Gonna disagree again.

Jordan is on another level compared to Vernon. Olivier was decent in run support, but to this point he does not look like a natural pass rusher.

Yep, you're comparing a Camaro to a Ferrari brother. Jordan brings a whole different level of play to the defense. We can line him up at Sam linebacker, we can line him up at defensive end. He can drop back and cover from either position. He can pass rush from either position. Not only that, but he seems pretty solid against the run from both positions as well. He truly is a Jason Taylor hybrid type player that can stand up or put his hand in the dirt. Kevin Coyle is one happy defensive coordinator today.

This is what has me so excited about this kid. His ability to drop back into coverage and mirror tightends. We've had nightmares trying to get our linebackers to matchup against the other teams linebackers. Now we've got a guy who is just as big as Gronkowski, and just as strong, but faster. I truly hope we decide to leave him as a linebacker. He's a monster upgrade over Misi.

Cant not like the pick, the dude is a stud and our pass rush will be elite for years to come, or until Wake is released because of cap space lol

Just feel there were other needs ahead of DE. But we still have picks left, and trade options.

Im watching NFL AM and Eric Davis loves what Miami has done this offseason. He said they brought in the weapons to score with the Patriots and the defenders to go after Brady.

I've only been around here a short time, but as of right now, 32 have voted good and NOBODY voted bad. Everyone in agreement? I'm guessing that doesn't happen very often! And it is regarding a move Ireland made!

Im not saying Vernon and Jordan are the same player physically just that Vernon can play linebacker and de but not at the level at Jordan in any way if so I wouldn't want this pick

There should be no doubt now that Ireland is going all out to win this year. Its a good pick no matter if this kid lives up to it or not. Its nice to be ballsy & aggressive again. We should have had this attitude years ago & have Matt Ryan as our QB.

Ireland said his first offer was rejected and the Raiders called back asking for #42.

I love the pick. Ireland came out swinging, not playing it safe. He took an amazing DE/OLB, that can grow and become something special. Maybe even the second coming of JT. Dion Jordan has amazing potential. What makes the trade even better was what Ireland gave up for him. This has been my favorite offseason thus far. If Ireland keeps this going, then maybe this is what we get when parcells and sporano are gone and Jeff is left to make moves with the insight of philbin and coyle.

I agree. It was a great trade and both teams won as the Raiders got the man they were going to draft at #3 and a high 2nd round pick. Dion Jordan would not have been there for us at #12. I like the new thought process of drafting playmakers rather than role players. Quality over quantity. Heck, trade up some more.

Who wants to bet that we eventually hear a Eric Winston rumor today? Either legit or to make the Chiefs budge on a 3rd? Now the Fins have even more leverage then before and the Chiefs now have to ask themselves can we have Albert back and then put Fisher at rt?

Vernon is not a 4-3 DE. He's primarily linebacker.

Vernon didn't bulk up to 270 lbs to play linebacker.

I don't understand why some of you have to pin point guys to a specific spot on the defense.

Ever think that he's going to be dynamic player lined up all over? With a rotation on the Dline of:

Wake, Jordan, Vernon, Odrick, Starks, Soliai... I mean that's impressive.

I still want to see how Vernon progresses... worst thing that can happen is we end up with 3 legit edge rushers and trade one away for some bank.

Or keep all 3....What's wrong with that?

The Giants have had 4. Worked out pretty well for them I'd say. You can never have too many good rushers.

A defensive line of Jordan, Odrick/Vernon, Starks and Wake on 3rd and long could be devastating.

How about sticking Jordan in Misi's spot on 3rd and long and putting the other 4 on the line.

Imagine that 5 man rush coming at you... watch out!

We would presumably be in nickel or dime on third and long. Don't think Misi's spot would be on the field.

Ok... to leave out the technicalities then... somehow get the 5 of them in there rushing together... and bam! don't need any coverage that QB will be looking at the sky!

I like this pick and trade a lot, and love the idea of attacking the QB. Not just for the Pats, but for the start of this season facing Indy, Atl, NO and Balto in the first 5 games. We should be able to disrupt passing games enough to hide deficiencies in the secondary.

Plus this kid seems like the real deal and should be seeing a lot of snaps from day one as well as being a franchise caliber player

But without an offense that can score we will be facing tough defenses as well, so something needs to be done up front whether its Abrhams or Winston, and still would like to see them snag up Armstead tonight if possible. But its going to be tough, he will probably go before we pick.

I am enjoying this pick like everyone else, but I have read a dozen articles about the drafts winners and losers. Not once did I see Miami in the win column, two articles had us out as losers. I'm definitely not losing sleep over this, but it's just puzzling that Miami can't do anything right. The first, and biggest trade up in the entire draft...and you barely here a peep from anyone.

I'm not nuts about trading up in this draft as I believe there were talented players to be had at 12. I guess we will see how it plays out. I'm not overly concerned with what the draft 'experts' have to say about this either. If they were so good, they'd be a GM, Coach, or Talent Scout in the NFL.
Personally I'd rather have had Hayden at 12, keep our 42nd, and trade our 54th for Albert. That being said, welcome to the team Jordan. I hope you become the next LT or JT.

You have to give Ireland credit for making a low ball offer and getting it accepted. Here is an article saying Ireland waited until Oakland had two minutes left on the clock.

"The Raiders were just two minutes away from being "stuck" with Hayden at No. 3 before the Dolphins finished the deal."

I think Jordan is a great player that will fill a need from day one. For once, we didn't spend our highest pick on an offensive lineman or a defensive lineman who can't really rush the passer. We actually drafted a play maker! You have to like that. I am not so sure that we could not have gotten a quality pass rusher at #12 though.....iirc, Woerner slipped beyond 12. Jordan looks as if he is a lot more than just a pass rusher though. The proof will be on the field. Anything less than a playoff appearance this year would be a disappointment.

It would be nice to have both 2nd round picks today, since we still need a cornerback, a red zone target, an OT, and I still think the team needs to replace Daniel Thomas.

Jordan is much better that Werner. Jordan is a freak that can pass rush and has the speed to drop back and cover TE's and slot receivers.
