TE Joey Haynos working on route running
Hanos is a 6'8 and 270# tight end. If he can improve he could be a serious threat for Henne. Quote: Joey Haynos, tight end
Signed off the Green Bay Packers' practice squad in September 2008, Haynos caught seven passes that season and 19 this year, two of them for touchdowns. With so many other needs to fill other than tight end, and Anthony Fasano at the end of his contract, Haynos figures to return as at least a backup and possibly in the mix to start.
He already is back at work with Dwight Galt, the strength coach at his alma mater of Maryland, and has a laundry list of goals.
"I want to get stronger and faster, more flexible — I definitely need to become a better blocker," said Haynos, who is 6-feet-8 and 270 pounds. "And I need to run my routes better. I'm doing those over and over, working on getting in and out of my cuts." http://www.palmbeachpost.com/sports/dol ... s_dolphins

I don't care how good a route runner he is....he's not fooling anybody when he couldn't outrun Jake Long. (Jake Long's speed rating in madden is higher than Haynos'..lol).

Speed isn't everything... I don't see any speed coming out of Jason Witten... just a big ol body.
At 6'8" 270 this kid could be a real threat... it seems he has his heart set on improving a lot as well.

I've worked with a kid that played basketball, is 6'9" and I'm still trying to convince him to play football in college. Height isn't something you coach...it's a tremendous advantage. I agree, Haynos had his fair share of drops, but I remember splitting him out wide...why? Put him in the middle of the field and hit him up top...enough of these outs, and fades.

Re: TE Joey Haynos working on route running
I wanted to see Sperry get some more game action. Haynos would be a nice end zone target though.

Re: TE Joey Haynos working on route running
I agree lokki... Sperry showed up big in the little action he had.
Iowa, I agree with the "why the heck did we split out Haynos?"
I mean we threw this guys screens and he cant outrun an offensive lineman... that's called not utilizing your players abilities right there... they were trying to utilize something that wasn't there.

Well if we're not using our offensive people right, who is to blame? I'm a finger-pointer.

Re: TE Joey Haynos working on route running
back on topic .. Haynos has the size to be a special TE, both as a blocker and a receiver, but I agree that his problem is his hands and being asked to go out wide as opposed as staying inside. I would imagine that its harder to catch something thrown from a wide angle than if it were coming from straight ahead.
