 Phinfever Mock Champion
Ok everyone, it's time to figure out who has the best mock draft.

The day before the draft I will open a thread. If you have a mock draft, post your latest mock in the thread.
It can be a 1 round, or muti round draft. All 7 would be awesome.

I am putting together a scoring system. I will post it before the deadline. (PM me if you have suggestions)

After the draft I will score all the mocks submitted. I will also score a couple of professional mock drafts for comparison.

Best score gets the title of "2013 Phinfever Mock Champion."
Dave is looking for a rank image to assign to the winner.

Even if you only have a 1 round mock, submit it. I will also crown the 1 round mock champion (no rank image).

Hope you can join in.

Degs

I'm in. I'll probably just mock the entire first round.

Ok, this is what I am planning for a framework:

1) Pick points: you get points for getting the correct player in the correct spot. E.g. You predict Tavin Austin to be drafted at #15 and that is where he was picked.
2) Variance points: you predicted Austin at #15 and he was taken at #14. You get some points.
3) Position points: you get the position correct. E.g. You picked Austin at #15. He was not picked at #15 but another WR was. You get some small amount of points.

As it gets far more difficult to make correct picks the further you move into the draft, the points will increase as will how far you are able to miss your pick and still get points.

That's the framework. I will work on the specific numbers. And yes, I am still willing to take feedback at this point.

Also, I will be using Nfl.com as my list of players and positions.

Why not just have people fill out the NFL.com one and create a group? That way you don't have to spend years doing the math.

Didn't know they had that. Appreciate you pointing it out. NFL.com is only a 1 round competition, does not have any way to alter their scoring and I want to be able to compare how well guys on this site do versus a walter.com, rotoworld, Mayock or a few other 'professionals'.

I'm still happy to move ahead with this if people are interested.

You want to do more than 1 round? I'll put together the first round but I'm not sure I feel like working on more than that.

But I'm in. I'll post my first round next week and I'll lock the topic for you once the draft starts so nobody can update their mocks. Just remind me to do that.

If people have multi-round mocks, I'll take care of it. Thought some of you did.

I just put together a spreadsheet that will do the scoring for me. I just need to plug in the picks. So it won't take that much effort. Believe me when I say you put in a lot more effort than I.

Cool, I'm in. No trades I take it, and it appears the point is to get the guy and number correct as opposed to the team.

Since I am not asking for the team, trades don't come into play.
The goal is getting the guy in the correct slot. Points also awarded for near misses

All you hear the fans saying is that Miami will draft Eifert, I haven't seen ANY mock drafts from ESPN or NFL Network with him slotted into our pick.

Because Eifert isn't a 12th overall caliber prospect. He's a good talent and a solid fit for the Dolphins, but tightend isn't one of our top two needs and he's a reach at 12th overall. The ideal scenario for the Dolphins is one where Lane Johnson, Dee Milliner, or Tavon Austin (if Miami does trade Bess) falls to them at 12.

Post Re: Phinfever Mock Champion
I feel like mine is a little unorthodox but what the hay... its all a guessing game right?

1. Chiefs - Luke Joeckel
I'm not sold on the sudden change from Joeckel to Fisher. Joeckel was the top pick for a looonnnggg time before the switch became apparent... I think the Chiefs stick with the Texas A&M beast.

2. Jaguars - Eric Fisher
A ton of needs for the Jaguars, but no elite players at the top of the draft outside of the three Tackles leaves the Jaguars building from the inside out.

3. Raiders - Shariff Floyd
This pick will not be made by the Raiders... I'd anticipate either the Cardinals or the Chargers moving up to grab Lane Johnson here.

4. Eagles - Lane Johnson
The Eagles will probably be pretty pumped if the Raiders stay put and Johnson falls to them.

5. Lions - Dion Jordan
The best pash rusher by far... and with the losses of Avril and Vanden Boch this offseason... they'll need someone to get at the QB.

6. Browns - Dee Milliner
Who has the top CB duo in the league? The Browns do now by matching up Milliner opposite Haden.

7. Cardinals - Geno Smith
Coach Arians likes a guy that can wing it down the field... and Geno can do that. Carson Palmer is nothing more than a stop gap to groom a younger fella.

8. Bills - Tavon Austin
The Bills aren't shy of snagging a playmaker in the top 10... they shocked the world a few years ago with the CJ Spiller selection at #9. Now they'll have Spiller, Jackson and Austin? I hope Wheeler and Ellerbe are fast.

9. Jets - Barkevious Mingo
The Jets need a pash rush... their front 4 provides absolutely no pressure and all attempts to fix that have failed. They took Coples last year... and now they have Mingo.

10. Titans - Chance Warmack
Gotta create some space for CJ2k!

11. Chargers - D.J. Fluker
The Chargers could also go Jonathan Cooper here, but I think they'll take the Tackle instead if they can't move up to 3 and get Lane Johnson.

12. Dolphins - Tyler Eifert
It's hard to see Miami taking a TE at #12 overall... I just can't see it happening... but I also have no idea who else they would take.

13. Jets - Cordarrelle Patterson
The Jets missed out on Tavon Austin... so they go with the next best thing in Cordarrelle Patterson.

14. Panthers - Star Lotulelei
The Panthers had a surprisingly solid defense last year... Kuechly was a beast as expected. Time to continue to keep your beast LB free of blocks by adding in a solid DT with Star Lotulelei.

15. Saints - Jarvis Jones
The Saints defense was pathetic last year. They're desperate for a pass rusher and despite some health issues that have knocked him down mock draft boards... I can't see Jarvis Jones falling out of the top 15.

16. Rams - Kenny Vaccaro
The Rams snag the highly sought after safety... Kenny Vaccaro... to solidify that defensive backfield.

17. Steelers - Arthur Brown
I haven't seen Arthur Brown in any 1st round mock drafts, but I continue to see him in the top 32 on overall rankings... color me confused. I'll ship him up to Pittsburgh to help add some youth to that aging defense.

18. Cowboys - Bjoern Werner
I dont know if Werner will fall this far... but if he does there's no way Jerry Jones passes him up. I know they have Demarcus Ware and just resigned Anthony Spencer... but as the Giants have shown, you can never have too many defensive linemen.

19. Giants - Jonathan Cooper
Another far drop, this time for NC guard Jonathan Coopers. If he's still on the board for the Giants pick you'll see some Gmen rep running up to the commish with their pick.

20. Bears - DeAndre Hopkins
There are other receivers available, and I could definitely see them going Justin Hunter or Keenan Allen here as well... but I like Hopkins explosiveness and think he'd be a great compliment to Marshall whether he's lined up in the slot or on the other side of the field.

21. Bengals - Eric Reid
Some mocks have the Bengals trading up to snag Vaccaro. If they're unable to do that, I could see them grabbing Eric Reid here to help fill the endless void at Safety.

22. Rams - Keenan Allen
Not the small, shifty guy they lost with Amendola, but definitely one of, if not the most, solid route runner in this draft. Not afraid to go up and grab it either... Bradford would love this pick.

23. Vikings - Alex Ogletree
There's some off the field concerns here but the Vikings can't pass up on this dynamic and explosive pass rusher.

24. Colts - Ezekial Ansah
I haven't seen Ansah mocked this low in any mock draft out there... but I could definitely see him falling due to his lack of experience. If the Colts nabbed him at 24 they'd be happier than Dracula at a blood drive.

25. Vikings - Sheldon Richardson
The Vikings continue to bolster their front 7 with the addition of Sheldon Richardson. They've now added a solid pass rushing LB/DE and a quick and agile DT.

26. Packers - Zach Ertz
I think Ertz goes in the first round still. If he doesn't go here he'll likely go to the Falcons. I could see Green Bay adding a play maker at the position for when Finley gets hurt again.

27. Texans - Damontre Moore
A lot of people see a WR going here but I'd look for the Texans to grab a solid defensive lineman to help replace the loss of Connor Barwin.

28. Broncos - Cornellius Carradine
I've heard a lot of buzz about this Carradine kid rising up the draft boards... even to 12 to our Phins! I think ultimately he replaces Dumervil in Denver.

29. Patriots - Xavier Rhodes
If Rhodes falls this far the Pats jump all over him.

30. Falcons - Datone Jones
Time to get some pass rush in there... typically Abraham offered the only pass rush for Atlanta... now he's gone too.

31. 49ers - Johnathan Hankins
They lost Sopoaga and need a replacement. Can you think of anyone better than Hankins? I think Harbaugh is ecstatic.

32. Ravens - Manti Te'o
Despite John Harbaugh's clear disappointment in Manti's 40 time at the combine, I still think they pull the trigger on him after losing Ray Lewis to retirement and Danelle Ellerbe to our Phins.

Can I switch my first two picks and put Fisher at #1, Joeckel at #2?

I've edited mine a couple of times this morning. I don't see why not.

Interesting, Spoon... it's hard for me to see Jordan slipping to 15. I think if he's there at 12, Miami would grab him, but most drafts have him going top 6-7, don't they? Some even as high as 2. Of course, you also have 2 QBs going high, which could well happen, but will be major reaches there.

That's the only reason I have Jordan slipping that far. I'm pretty sure Jacksonville is going to take whomever KC doesn't. I think that Chip Kelly isn't going to be able to resist the allure of an athletic, young quarterback for his offense. I also think that Buffalo will panic on Nassib and take him at 8.

That being said, I could easily see Jordan being taken in the top 10.

We all realize how "special" you are.

And when I say newbies, I meant the guys with single digit numbers on their post counts
