I hope Ireland doesn't overpay. They could always sign Clabo or McKinnie as a one year band aid and draft a tackle. Or move Martin to LT and sign Winston.

Protecting Tannehill's blind side is also a must.

I don't think that paying $6-8 million for him would be overpaying. He's a top 10 LT and assuming he's over the back issues, should be a top 10 LT for the next 3 to 5 years minimum.

The average salary amongst top 10 LTs is around the $6.5m-$7m range. He isn't too far off, but definitely not worth a $9m cap hit in my opinion.

But is it worth Tannehill not getting hurt?

I'd rather draft someone than pay that amount. Enjoy getting stomped in KC.

Albert is no the only option. His cap cost is a consideration. Ireland has to make an informed decision based upon all the variables.

Jeff obviously has a number in mind that he wants to pay for Brandon Albert, and it not what Jake Long got from St. Louis.

Brandon would be coming into a good situation with Miami and vice versa for Miami. That said, if he does not want to get into the range that Miami wants, the Dolphins will move on.

Miami Cannot pay Albert that after not paying Long that & giving up a 2nd. Makes no sense

At $8-9M a season, no way does this deal get done. But at $6-7M, it gets done. Hopefully Albert thinks about it and changes his mind. But if not, we can always sign Winston to a one year deal and draft someone to develop behind him in the 2nd or 3rd round.

I imagine that Albert will come down to the 7 million ballpark and that the deal will get done on the second day. Unless of course one of the big 3 manages to slip down to us at 12, then all bets are probably off

I agree, if Johnson is still on the board then he's likely the pick. But if things play out according to what the "experts" are saying, then he'll likely be gone. If that happens, and the Chiefs have already taken Joeckel, I fully expect Ireland to play hardball with the Chiefs and work out some sort of deal to get Albert. I'm hoping the Chiefs unload him for a 3rd or 4th out of draft day desperation.

Also, letting Albert play out his contract isn't a bad idea like some people seem to think. This way when he goes to re-negotiate he'll be a year older, and we'll know 100% what is going on with his back.

My guess is that Albert plays this year at the franchise money, and then goes into free agency next year. I imagine this is the reason he was franchised as the Chiefs don't want to commit longterm to him at $8-9 million. He's a very good pass blocker, but not the best in the business. He also had some back problems last year.

I agree with Omar Kelly that Miami has all the leverage here. KC is stuck paying him 9 million, he doesn't fit the power blocking scheme Reid will employ, seems they really want to recoup a 2nd round pick after dealing one for Smith and Albert could hold out if forced to play RT.

Albert knows its potentially his last big deal, won't reduce his chances of getting one next year by playing RT in KC, has seen that LT's have received less than expected this offseason, doesn't want to risk injury before a big contract and has to realize KC doesn't view him how he views himself.

Now Miami nees a LT, BUT, they can still move up in the draft or roll with Martin. They don't have to overpay. I know people will get all worked up if Martin is the final option but they must have known this was a possible scenario.

According to Ian Rappoport, Miami doesn't have a problem paying him $8-9 million
