Post Potential trade down scenarios for Miami
Tavon Austin is a hot commodity, and it pains me to have him be a kid Miami passes on. But if it helps to obtain additional picks to use, then Tavon must go.

This is from CNNSI.com.

St. Louis Rams (Nos. 16 and 22), Minnesota Vikings (Nos. 23 and 25), San Francisco 49ers (No. 31)
Target Player: WR Tavon Austin
Where He’s Expected to Go: Top 12

Austin continues to pick up steam as the draft approaches, with more and more teams becoming intrigued by the possibility of adding him to their offense.

The floor for Austin might be that No. 16 pick of St. Louis’. With the Rams holding two first-rounders and in need of receiver help (and, specifically, slot receiver help with Danny Amendola departing), Austin is a natural fit there. But that reality also gives several other teams a baseline from where to start their trade talks, while St. Louis could feel the pressure to climb even higher if Austin is the goal.

Minnesota, also with two first-rounders, is an obvious candidate to move. So, too, is San Francisco, which worked out Austin this week and has 15 draft picks with which to orchestrate a deal.

Chasing Austin could require a big move, though, as teams like Tampa Bay (13), New Orleans (15) and Pittsburgh (17) would at least toy with the idea of drafting the West Virginia WR. The aim here, then? Let’s set it at the Jets’ No. 9 selection.

They have the Jets at #9, but I believe the teams that COULD possibly take Austin in the top 10 are the Bills and Jets.

If he gets past those 2 teams, Miami is in play.

I'd hope we could get a 3rd or 4th rounder out of Dallas in a trade down situation in drafting Tyler Eifert. I think I am dead set on this kid now.

They say not to fall in love with a kid. No one loves Tavon Austin more than me, so those trade scenarios to get him break my heart. But if Maimi could get both 1st round picks from Minny, that would be NICE.

As a possibility, this works out almost perfectly on the draft value chart....

Miami trades: #12, #54 and #77
For St Louis': #16 and #23

Don't see why the Rams would want to trade up.

FYI

Quote:
Peter King of Sports Illustrated reports that the Falcons are trying to trade up from their current first-round pick, which is No. 30 overall. King said he doesn’t know which player or players the Falcons are targeting, but they apparently like someone whom they expect to be off the board before No. 30 overall.

Personally I would as for from Minny the 23rd pick in the first, 3rd round and there two 4th rs picks, the points are close.

From San Fran the 31st pick, the 61st, and the 74th pick in the 3rd round. I think the value for picks are in the third and fourth rounds.

This is a possible scenario for Dallas to move up in the draft to grab Kenny Vaccaro.

Dallas receives picks: 1 (12), 4 (74)

Miami receives picks: 1 (18), 2 (47)

Lots of reasons. What if they are afraid their guy will be take. By another team ahead of them? What if they are afraid someone behind them will leapfrog ahead of them?

Note, the original quote said that #16 is the floor. He could go higher. If the Rams want him, they may have to move up

As long as Austin isn't in a Jets uniform at the end of the day, I'll be happy

How many rookies do you want on this team?

it does not matter, but we need to find talented players that can compete for a starting position and or playing time

It does matter.

We do need to find talented players. You are more likely to find them with higher picks.
You also need to have some guys with experience on the team.
And you need to realize that not every draft pick will make the team.

Does it make sense to stockpile more picks that you may not get anything out of, and to do this by trading out of a situation where you can get 'better' players?

Because if they don't, the Dolphins might take Austin, or trade the pick to someone else who wants him. In the scenario listed above the Rams are able to add picks, and get their guy. The Dolphins are able to pick up two elite prospects at different positions, such as Tyler Eifert and Xavier Rhodes, or D.J. Fluker and Bjoern Werner, or Jonathan Cooper and Sylvester Williams, or any combination you can think of.

Remember how much they gave up for Julio Jones! I'm really liking the idea of trading with Atlanta. When they like someone, they go all in! Could you imagine trading back to 30, and getting a 2nd or more this year, plus a 1st next year for doing it?

ya really! I'd be more for moving up in rounds to get better players.

The Miami Herald confirms Davone Bess "could be traded" if the Dolphins acquire a slot receiver in the draft.
We're not sure what the Fins think they could get for Bess, who's long been a media favorite but has never offered big-play ability. If NFL teams were seriously interested, we'd have heard trade chatter by now. There has been zero buzz. Perhaps Bess could net the Fins a seventh-round pick during the draft.
