Take the best traits from every quarterback in this draft class, add them all up and they probably still can't touch Tannehill, whom every draft analyst admits would be the first quarterback selected if he were in next week's NFL draft.

Tannehill, who runs a 4.55 40-time, is just as athletic as West Virginia's Geno Smith and Florida State's E.J. Manuel.

He's got a stronger arm than USC's Matt Barkley and Syracuse's Ryan Nassib. And Tannehill is far more accurate than Mike Glennon, Tyler Wilson and Tyler Bray.

For the past month, Tannehill has been throwing to his "new toys," which is the term Ireland used to describe receivers Mike Wallace, Brandon Gibson and tight end Dustin Keller, in non-sanctioned workouts.

"We've got some dynamic playmakers. Hopefully we can stretch the field vertically," Tannehill said of the trio, which has collectively scored 58 touchdowns in the NFL. "We've got some guys who have been around the game for a while and they know what's going on. They understand concepts and understand football."

Tannehill would have been a 10th round pick last season of Matt Barkley had declared...

From last year, after Tannehill's Pro Day.

{quote]Ryan Tannehill took the field with 22 NFL teams watching Thursday to prove several different things before the NFL Draft.

Tannehill was coming off a broken foot that required surgery. The surgery forced Tannehill to miss the Senior Bowl and NFL Combine.

He made up for his missed time by running a 4.58 second 40-yard dash on Thursday. His time was better than Andrew Luck’s 4.67 at the combine and slower than Robert Griffin III’s 4.41.

Tannehill’s time would have placed him as the third fastest runner at the draft behind Griffin and Wisconsin’s Russell Wilson (4.55).

Addressing his foot, Tannehill opted to throw only from under center to prove his foot was just fine. The result was a 65-of-68 performance in which Tannehill completed all nine throws at the goal line.

His incompletions were the result of two dropped balls and one overthrow to receiver Jeff Fuller that Tannehill later said he wished he had back.

It was an impressive performance in College Station, which sent each person in attendance out the doors certain Tannehill will be a top 10 pick in the draft.[/quote]

Shocker! I remember him hitting Armstrong on a slant that would have been a TD if AA didn;t drop it. I also believe he hit binns around the 6 or 7 yrd line perfectly and he dropped it. Like I said, I'm actually excited about this season.

Tannehill struggled to get the ball downfield opposite Hartline, that probably won't be an issue this year with Wallace lining up across from Hartline. Tannehill struggled to throw deep up the middle last year, that also probably won't be an issue this year with Keller at tightend.

Ireland came out with a specific gameplan in free agency. He wanted to give Tannehill the types of weapons necessary to help him take his game to the next level. Between Wallace, Hartline, Bess, Gibson, and Keller, Tannehill has five very solid targets. While Gibson isn't elite, he's an excellent 5th option. Also, when you consider we're going to have Rishad Matthews and Armon Binns battling for the fifth receiver spot, our wideout corps is looking significantly better than it did a year ago.
