Post Mike Wallace took less money to come to Miami
Quote:
So when cold-weather teams such as the Vikings made a pitch for 2013’s hot-shot free agent, they barely had a chance. It was time to go south, where he could breathe – figuratively, and a bit literally.

“The [Vikings] had come to the pointwhere they were telling him, ‘You don’t have to live here, just be here during the season,’ ” Wallace’s father, Mike Jr., said by phone this week. “He wanted to get out of that snow and cold weather.”

Wallace didn’t last a day on the open market before signing a five-year contract with the Dolphins earlier this month. The deal will pay him on average roughly $12 million annually, and yet, he actually left money on the table, his dad claims.

The Vikings offered more, according to Mike Jr. , but Wallace said no thanks. The Rams and Seahawks were among the teams he said also expressed interest. The feeling apparently was not mutual.

“[Miami] feels like home,” Mike Wallace III told The Miami Herald on Thursday. “I’m just excited for a new start. On to the next chapter.”

Lets not forget Florida doesn't have a state income tax. Minnesota does.

Minn would have been 942,000 per season in state income tax....

He should have thought of the needy & signed with Minn. He is selfish.

Degs you never buy any of these stories lol... its no surprise.

I could easily see a guy wanting to go to Miami for less for warm weather... especially if they grew up in the warm weather... hard to get used to that cold.

I don't doubt that part. But what I remember in the days leading up to FA was reports that there was no competition for Mismi in getting Wallace. Now we were being overbid???

Yeah, sure

Greg Jennings sister is really disappointed about this.

Honestly though why must we make all of our guys saints. Had their really been more serious bidders he surely would have played one against each other.

Once again lets just get him out there on Sundays.

I think the new logo will really help him out as well , 2 new beginnings. (OK , had to throw some sarcasm in there)

Warm weather, no state income tax, not having Christian Ponder as his QB. I'm not saying he took less money to come to Miami, but if he did, I can see why.
