I saw that this morning. Sean might have a hard time getting what he is looking for now that the market has been flooded with CB's.

I'd resign him if he would lower his contract demands to a workable number. He really isn't all that good, but he is familiar with our defense, and has the tools and measurables to be a serviceable starter in this league. I think he is salvageable yet.

I really don't understand what these teams think they will be getting if they sign him.

Quote:
Yahoo Sports' Jason Cole reports that the Patriots, Bucs, and Cardinals appear to be the "leading candidates" to land Sean Smith in free agency.
Cole concedes "things are fluid," and interestingly doesn't include the Eagles among Smith's suitors. Arizona needs a bookend for Patrick Peterson, and new defensive coordinator Todd Bowles was Smith's position coach in Miami. The Pats are considering moving on from fellow free agent Aqib Talib. The Bucs have the most cap space of the trio; Smith's stated desire is to "get paid."

I agree. As a matter of fact same can be said for most of our free agents. I am glad Hartline is coming back but had he not I also would not have lost sleep. Fact is our free agents are not that good which is why our team is not that good. I hope that message is resonating with Ireland because this is the make or break year. This is a team that has not won jack in so long that newer fans just seem to accept it. kids ask me as a Dolphin fan if there ever was a time when they actually won. And most of us here with decent knowledge who are not jaded by homerism know it as well.
Hitting the so called home run in free agency while addressing needs does not fill them. Plug holes with that second or third tier of free agents who have something to prove , not with those who think they were under appreciated by their former team & want a new team to now pay them without realizing the business side to all of this.. Its about the draft. Hopefully Ireland gets it & proves he is not the knucklehead I think he is.
