OT: Revis wants 10 years, 160 mil
So you can pay him and ruin your team cap wise for a decade, or you could not pay him and miss your best player for a year (or however long this hold-out lasts). Looks like either way, the Jets lose in this deal. LOL. Quote: According to Gary Myers of the New York Daily News, the 10-year proposals on the table by both the Jets and Revis differ by $40M. The $40M doesn't even include signing bonuses and guaranteed money. The Jets have had a 10-year, $120M offer "on the table for months," so it seems that Revis' camp is asking for 10-years, $160M. No wonder Woody Johnson's gut feeling is that Revis won't play for the Jets. http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/38655510/ ... ayer_news/

Forget it. Sometimes you just can't keep all of your free agents. He may be the best at his position right now, but I would look to replace him in the draft next year or franchise him (if he is a free agent) and a new collective bargaining agreement has been reached.

The problem is Revis got himself into this mess because as a rookie he demanded a 6 year deal and held out for one. So, he's still got 3 years left on his contract, and now it is 4 more years because he held out past August 10. If I were the Jets, I would make him hold-out those 4 years.

Re: OT: Revis wants 10 years, 160 mil
What CB, holds out and extends his contract an extra year over 10 years $120 million? That absurd.
I agree with the Jets here 100%, despite how much I hate them. Have him hold out until he accepts your offer, no matter how long it takes. Revis needs to come back to reality a bit and barter it up to $130 million and sign on the dotted line.
Like said above, good news for us either way. The Jets D will be good with or without Revis, but how can the Jets stop BMarsh and an outside running game with wimpy Antonio Cromartie?

This seems too good to be true. My guess is that Ryan will be able to talk with him and get him to drop his ridiculous demands and play ball. I don't see him holding out this year as I am sure he is well aware that he has little to bargain with and is only hurting his career by holding out for a season.

I'm usually pro player, but in the case I believe the Jets have tried to offer Revis a massive contract and he has turned it down. Like Phins said, Revis has 3 years left on a 6 year contract that he held out for. This has the making of a very, very nasty holdout. Could not happen to a better team.

Re: OT: Revis wants 10 years, 160 mil
Why would you want to sign a 10 year contract? In 3 years when another corner is sign's a deal for more money then he's going to want to renegotiate again. Why not sign for another 5 years so you can possibly get another mega deal?

Revis seems set on being the highest paid CB in the league, and has essentially stated he won't take anything less. I don't see the Jets, or any team with a smarter owner than Oakland, meeting that demand. This is a good thing for us in Miami.
