for violating the Performance Enhancing Substance Policy. There was a buzz about this kid coming out of college from SC with roids and testing positive at the combine, so it is not that much of a surprise.

For the record, the positive test that was rumored at the combine was not true, but the rumors of use at SC were there.

4 games..ridicilous..he roided up the entire offseason and gets a 4 games suspension and people treat it like an injury? The NFL is very far behind on these issues, imo..

Well, he used HCG, a fertility drug that helps your testosterone levels stay equal after you quick using steroids. Rodney Harrison flat out used HGH, which boosts testosterone levels....and they both got the same punishment.

If anything, compared to the Ex-Patriot, this suspension is harsh....yes, it was a banned substance and I'm not condoning its use, but if Cushing wasn't taking HCG he could have been really screwed up after stopping the steroid use....

So we should look upon fairer eyes at Cushing because he wanted to regain his scrotum size? I don't understand. And I certainly don't understand how you can test positive in September and play a full season. And compared to anything both suspensions are ridicilous, imo. If you get had in soccer you get 2 years no more no less. 4 years second time, and lifeban 3rd time. Same in cycling and every other sport that is exercized in Europe.

Even though what annoys me the most isn't the length of the punishment but the attitude the NFL and its commentators take to cheating...It's already a footnote in this guys career, he even retained the rookie of the year award!

Now, I'm not saying Cushing is the devil, I understand the pressure(or atleast I understand there is a lot of pressure) a guy like him experiences coming in to the NFL and even in college. But you cheat, you're out. Atleast for more than 4 games and atleast don't treat this like a damn injury as some of his team mates and commentators are. He CHEATED!

I think a longer punishment would make a clear point to any1 on something......if he got half the season without pay, everybody else on something would try and clean up before they got caught to. But 4 games is like a joke and he keeps the award plus all bonus money he got last year.

I'm completely with you. Big Ben gets suspended 6 games for an off the field issue, one that he was not ended up charged with anything, and Cushing cheats ON THE FIELD, and you give him 4 games?!? What?!?

Ridiculous is right. In soccer, a failed drug test and you're suspended 12-18 months. In some cases, that is a little harsh, but it is much closer to where it should be than the NFL, NHL, MLB, etc. that freegin give you a slap on the wrist and that's it.
