Depending what a 'late round' draft pick constitutes.. I really think ginn is more valuable to us than a 6th or 7th round pick

Re: Dolphins trade Ted Ginn to the 49ers
It looks like we just gave him away.
Let's face it ... he doesn't fit the tough-mental personality that Parcells likes. He wasn't a good fit on this team and I am surprised it wasn't done last year.

Armando chimes in ... Armando Salguero wrote: Ted Ginn Jr. traded to San Francisco
Ted Ginn has told friends and teammates he has been traded to the San Francisco 49ers. The Dolphins are not commenting publicly but I got a text from a team source confirming the trade is done for a 2010 draft.
That pick will be a Saturday pick I am told. That means a late-rounder guys.
Ginn's fate was sealed by the recent acquisition of Brandon Marshall, but the truth is Ginn has been on the trade block for several weeks.
The former first-round pick in 2007 -- No. 9 overall -- regressed significantly in 2009. He dropped more passes than just about anyone in the NFL. His production also dropped from 56 catches in 2008 to 38 in 2009. http://miamiherald.typepad.com/dolphins ... cisco.html

Well I guess I need to make a new sig now. I just wish it was for a higher pick, but with what little he has done, you can't expect a whole lot for him.

Re: Dolphins trade Ted Ginn to the 49ers
Dave, merge my post with this one as I missed it when I posted. Ted has been a disappointment, but he was the deep speed guy that Miami does not have now.
Still, if you are a top 10 pick, you have to produce more than Ted produced for Miami. His fear of getting hit and running crossing routes hurt him a great deal and if you want to be a #1 WR, which he will never be, you have to run all of the route tree, not just the outs and deep routes.

Truer words were never spoken. 9th pick he had his time to show us something. S.Rice was a 2nd round pick and they (qb) ?s and he still put up some solid #s

Re: Dolphins trade Ted Ginn to the 49ers
I think this could be a telling sign that the phins are looking to get spiller with the 12th pick. Although Ginn wasn't a very good receiver he certainly was a threat to go on special teams. We need to get a legitimate playmaker on special teams and I seriously think the pick is Spiller at 12

Ginn was the 9th pick in the draft and he was nowhere near being a complete WR. Thank you Cam Cameron.

Re: Ted Ginn traded to San Francisco
Maybe he will be able to help M. Crabtree get more 1on1 looks now. Nawwww....they will see he still is not a threat to catch and will let him run all day long

You can get Trindon Holliday or Jacoby Ford later.

Ted Ginn aside, people seem to think you have to have a guy that runs a 4.3 or faster in order to stretch the field. All you need are guys that can run good routes. If you have at least one guy running deep (whether running a 4.3 or not), someone has to cover him, and then you run other things underneath. Eventually a misstep in coverage will get a guy open running deep.

Re: Dolphins trade Ted Ginn to the 49ers
5th rounder isn't too hateful, what pick in the 5th is it, and now does this mean that we are set at WR with Marshall, Bess, Camarillo, and Turner or do we draft someone like Jacoby Ford to fill Ginn's spot?

For me the single best thing about the Ginn trade is that 10ys from now maybe we will have moved past the obligatory "and his family" comments.
I have been accused of being an optimist before though.

I understand the trade, but I really wanted to see what he could do opposite to Marshall this year. It could have been very interesting with his speed, but who knows.

I would have loved to see what Ginn could do alongside Marshall, it's a shame we'll never know. I'm just glad they traded him to SF, where he probably won't have a chance to make us regret it.
