FOX Sports' Jay Glazer reports that the 49ers have acquired WR/KR Ted Ginn from the Dolphins in exchange for a late-round pick.

Depending what a 'late round' draft pick constitutes.. I really think ginn is more valuable to us than a 6th or 7th round pick

Ted Ginn Jr. traded to San Francisco

Ted Ginn has told friends and teammates he has been traded to the San Francisco 49ers. The Dolphins are not commenting publicly but I got a text from a team source confirming the trade is done for a 2010 draft.

That pick will be a Saturday pick I am told. That means a late-rounder guys.

Ginn's fate was sealed by the recent acquisition of Brandon Marshall, but the truth is Ginn has been on the trade block for several weeks.

The former first-round pick in 2007 -- No. 9 overall -- regressed significantly in 2009. He dropped more passes than just about anyone in the NFL. His production also dropped from 56 catches in 2008 to 38 in 2009.

Dave, merge my post with this one as I missed it when I posted. Ted has been a disappointment, but he was the deep speed guy that Miami does not have now.

Still, if you are a top 10 pick, you have to produce more than Ted produced for Miami. His fear of getting hit and running crossing routes hurt him a great deal and if you want to be a #1 WR, which he will never be, you have to run all of the route tree, not just the outs and deep routes.

I think this could be a telling sign that the phins are looking to get spiller with the 12th pick. Although Ginn wasn't a very good receiver he certainly was a threat to go on special teams. We need to get a legitimate playmaker on special teams and I seriously think the pick is Spiller at 12

Iowa, I know full well Ted Ginn is not a complete WR, but it still nice to have a kid that can stretch the field. Believe me, I understand the trade. Ginn was the 9th pick in the draft and he was nowhere near being a complete WR.

Not necessarily. Miami got burnt by taking a special teamer with Ginn. Why do it again? You can get Trindon Holliday or Jacoby Ford later.

For me the single best thing about the Ginn trade is that 10ys from now maybe we will have moved past the obligatory "and his family" comments.

I have been accused of being an optimist before though.
