Post The Dolphins need a fullback
I think injuries on our defense has created holes in other positions such as FB and WR. If Thigpen is considered a WR, let's see him more on offense.

Between 2008 and 2010, fullback Lousaka Polite gained 41 first downs on 43 attempts on third and fourth down and one yard to go.

In 2012, fullback Jorvorskie Lane had two touchdowns and five first downs in 13 rushing attempts.

This season, the Dolphins are 3 of 8 on third-and-1. In the opening series against Baltimore, Lamar Miller couldn’t get a half-yard (or less) on second or third down and had to punt. The previous game’s opening series against New Orleans, Daniel Thomas couldn’t get a third-and-one and settled for a field goal.

Is it the line’s fault? Yep.

Do some questions go to offensive coordinator Mike Sherman? Yep.

But the first thing to see is they don’t have any running back capable of getting the tough yard when that’s demanded. No fullback like Polite. Not even a Lane. This is the first place I’d look in this bye week. Is there a tough-guy fullback out there? Someone you can smash into the line rather than run mini-sweeps when a tough yard is demanded?

I understand why the fullback has been phased out of the game. But this season shows the Dolphins still have a place for one considering they don't have a tough-running guy to handle those duties.

I hate they didn't make an offer to Vonta Leach.

I saw O Kelly suggest signing Evan Rodriguez or Jovorskie Lane. Why not Rodgriguez? He is also a receiving weapon. I can't remember his preseason performances too well but thought he was a decent enough blocker.

Rodriguez is a bum.

No, he was cut. Wonder why no one is snagging Peyton Hillis?

Mak, Peyton Hillis doesn't "suck", perhaps his play abilities have dropped off, but to say he sucks when he was a viable back in the NFL not too long ago is a bit critical, don't you think? It was just a suggestion to look at him for Miami's blocking and short yardage needs and the guy can catch out of the back field as well, but obviously there is a reason he is not signed.
