Post Miami should trade for MJD
The Jags just traded Eugene Monroe to the Ravens for a few 3rd day picks.

Word is MJD is up for grabs since it looks like a fire sale.

Jones-Drew, while not what he once was, would be a massive upgrade to Thomas, not only in short yardage but on 3rd down out of the backfield and that thing called PASS PROTECTION.

MJD has been one of the better blitz pick-up backs in football despite his size. If nothing else, that warrants a draft pick. https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2 ... ing-backs/

If you can get him for a 3rd day pick, that's an easy say one to pull the trigger on for me.

We needed Monroe but this coaching staff wouldn't know how to use MJD... i.e. Reggie Bush!!!

I think we'd have to pass on that one, PR. He is clearly not the player he once was. The only thing he does positively this year is block.

Quote:
Nwaneri signed a five-year extension reportedly worth $24 million in 2010. He, along with center Brad Meester and guard Will Rackley, has struggled this season, although Nwaneri and Rackley are dealing with knee injuries. Jones-Drew is in the final year of his contract and is unlikely to be re-signed.

Tight end Marcedes Lewis, who has played only two snaps this season because of a calf injury, also could be a target. Lewis signed a five-year contract worth $35 million ($17 million guaranteed) in 2011.

Not one of those players, all of whom are 28 or older, is in the team’s long-term plans. If Caldwell can get anything substantive for them, it’s almost a no-brainer. It’s not going to be easy to watch the product on the field, but everything now is about 2014 and 2015.

if the Jaguars are dumping players I'd rather have Cecil Shorts. That guy is a #1 wideout going to waste catching balls from Gabbert/Henne.

I saw Salguero suggest trading with the Bucs for Donald Penn. Don't know much about him other than he has a big contract. Anyone with knowledge on the guy care to expand on the idea?

He's not that expensive, and none of the money left on his deal is guaranteed.

He's a LT though. So you'd have to switch Martin back to the right side, presumably.

I'd rather stick Nate Garner in at either RT or RG.

Wonder if Garner could handle Suggs better than Clabo

But, but, but .... I was once told we stole him away from the Falcons. He's another Colombo at this point. Actually, at least that guy could run block.

Colombo

The mere fact that we are even using this guy's name in the same breath as Clabo tells me how horrible this has been. I was also going to mention Pat McQuistan, who was also just terrible.

Why is it that Miami has so much problem eying talent and beefing up the line? What would you guys say in terms of how many should get replaced on the line? I say at least two need upgrading in the worst way.

What figures is Clabo goes from being one of the leagues best to less than medicore with Miami.
