I happen to feel the same way. Miami had a star offensive player that was still young too.

Had a strong feeling Detroit got a heck of a player IF he stays healthy the entire season.

What can you do though? Hopefully, Lamar Miller develops into that type of a weapon, but Bush was no question UNDER utilized in Miami and could have been a very nice part of our arsenal right now.

He didn't fit the running scheme the Dolphins wanted to deploy, whatever that means. In all honesty, he did do too much dancing while he was here and the Dolphins seem to want more of a cutback runner. Not that it matters with our atrocious run blocking.

He looks really good in Detroit while we're still waiting for our running game to show up. He had also shown improvement in picking up the blitz when he was here and the Dolphins never used him properly in the passing game. Neither Sparano nor Philbin utilized Bush the way he should be utilized.

Detroit is doing that and look at the results.

The only other thing I would say is that his last year here, he started off on fire and then his production fell off while trying to play through a knee injury (injuries have always seemed to be a problem with Bush). He's 28 and probably wanted more than the Dolphins would have been willing to pay.

I had the same feeling. I recall Philbin mentioning it a few times last season, we all see the yards players gain, however most stats do not take into account the negative plays, or penalties. With Reggie trying to make something from nothing, he would take a TFL, or the linman would get a holding call when the defender suddenly changes direction.

I was thinking the lengnth more than cost, 4 mil a season is not a hig price for a guy like Bush, but given his history locking him in for 4 years is a tad risky..

Wasn't there also something about his role on the leadership council? Perhaps a bit too vocal for Philbin's liking?

He was part of that, and all of those players are no longer with the team..

However the others were both offered something to stay her, Dansby was asked to redo his contract and opted out, and Jake Long was also offered a contract.

Could you imagine the offense now if we still had him? But then again this is the same coaching staff that stubbornly refused to utilize Bush how he was meant to be used. That is what I hate sometimes about sports ..... politics or ideologies will sometimes decide these things when they have no business being that way in the first place. The guy clearly has talent and very few linebackers can cover him. Why would anyone NOT want to get him the ball?

What I really liked about the guy was his preparation and training regimens were hardcore. The guy is as committed as it gets.

detriot will get him hurt.they are using him too much...his value as a 5/6 wr. plus running back would have been awesome to have right now...bottom line he made the team better and we had the money to pay him...didn't like the move

You knew he would be gone after his benching in last years Tennessee game. Detroit is just using him the right way. Besides he is so last year , its Miller time now!

It was frustrating to me to watch the Dolphins repeatedly ignore Bush's strengths. I am happy with him being in Detroit. He wouldn't have the opportunities to shine Behring this offensive line.

Well said Dave. I totally agree and it is a darn shame we had an offensive weapon that if put into the game to mismatch against the defense could really be dangerous in open space.

1) he had a lot of negative yardage plays from dancing in the backfield.
2) he is injury prone.
3) he is to small to run between the tackles.
4) he wanted a multi year contract.
5) he doesn't fit in Sherman's offense
6) Miami used the money it would have spent on him on other areas.

1) A thousand negative yards
2)Aren't they all
3)So don't use him there..We have other backs
4)We have the extra money to spend
5)Then Sherman should take a page from Shula(who was pretty good last i remember)USE YOUR TALENT
6)We have, what 12 million in cap space?
7) He was a great team leader! and vet presence with a ring.

They did what they did..I can move on but we would have been better with him this year.

How much better? Did you want us to be 4-0 after 3 games?

It's not just about the record here in the first 3 games. It's about later on in the year when team start figuring out how to take away the ONLY thing we do right now which is pass .... especially out of those 3WR sets. Reggie is a player teams have to gameplan due to the "threat" of catching passes out of the backfield. Lamar Miller is certainly not right now. Not even sure if he'll ever be that kind of back.

Wasn't Wallace supposed to take the focus of other offensive players? Oh wait ....

He ain't even a tron.

The coaches need to figure out how to use his speed in the quick passing game, or else all that money is just wasted.
