LT Martin has improved run blocking, but pass blocking ...
It's bad when you get mentioned for not giving up a sack as it's a highlight of camp. Your left tackle should be doing this on a consistent basis. It's good to see that his run blocking has improved, but when you spend big money to improve the passing game you're not looking to run the ball all the time with an unproven running back. Martin still has 4 weeks to improve. I am still thinking that we'll see an improved Jonathan Martin in the pass blocking game. He's put in a whole lot of work and dedication in the offseason to improve this year. I'm pulling out hope for him.
First, Jonathan Martin did not give up a sack today. That bears prominent mention because he's been singled out every time he loses pass-rush battles against Olivier Vernon and Dion Jordan. Today there was none of that.
And it merits mention that Martin looks very good in run-blocking drills and has looked good for several days in that department.

Martin added weight in the offseason, and it appears to be paying dividends in the run game even if he's getting eaten alive by Olivier Vernon in pass pro. Martin's performance is more of a concern for Ryan Tannehill's fantasy outlook than it is for Lamar Miller. We'll get a solid dose of this new-look Miami first-team offense in Sunday night's Hall of Fame game against Dallas.
