Dion Jordan said Friday that he expects his contract situation to be resolved by the time Miami Dolphins players report to training camp Saturday.

He’s the last of the Dolphins’ nine draft picks still unsigned, and the hold-up is over guaranteed money. Miami’s front office is insisting his contract contain offset language – which would allow the Dolphins to recoup some of Jordan’s salary should they cut him before his contract is up (assuming someone else signs him).

Dolphins’ representation, led by agent Doug Hendrickson, has balked at the demand. Hendrickson has not returned multiple phone calls and emails from the Miami Herald this week. If a deal cannot be reached by Saturday, when players report to camp, Jordan will become the third straight Dolphins first-round pick to hold out.

On Friday, Jordan said that won’t happen.

“It’s not finalized yet, but I’ll be there,” he promised.

The Dolphins surely want him in uniform. He hasn’t taken a true snap in practice since they drafted him.

Jordan has been in town for the last two months, working out with his new teammates, he said.

Asked how much ground he needs to make up, Jordan said: “A lot.”

“But I’m not the only person who feels like he has a lot to do coming into the season,” he added. “I’ve got to put the work in, regardless.”

If he's going to sign it today, then he must be conceding and believing in his abliity to be here the entire contract that he signs.

They need to get him into camp, because his shoulder injury prevented him to any OTA work.

Deal didn't get done.
He didn't show up to camp like he said he would.

Both sides have had 3 months to get the deal done and now our 1st rd pick isn't in camp. He said he would show up, he should have showed up. Either way, come to the compromise and get him in camp. darn, the FIns are so notorious for this BS.
