I think Albert is going to be wearing Dolphin colors come fall. This is just negotiating for the best deal possible. I think we'll get him for the our second 2nd round pick.

Well, I don't mind them haggling over this. The Patriots got Randy Moss for a steal. It is strange to pay him like a top LT but to only think he is worth a 3rd round pick.

Quote:
Per @ClaytonESPN, sounds basically like KC wants pick 42 for Albert, Fins willing to give pick 54. Waiting game. We'll see.

Glad Miami is standing strong at the moment. IF Miami can hold out to the point KC will settle on a 3rd rounder, that would be a huge kudo to Ireland.

a 3rd and the pick from the Bess trade is what i think is on the Fins mind but they have leverage because KC has to make a choice with the 1st pick and Albert won't play for them so they shot themselves in the foot already

Yep, I've got a feeling that once the Chiefs take Joeckel, they'll get desperate to trade Alberto to someone else like San Diego, Arizona, etc. If nobody is willing to give up a 2nd, then they might just settle with trading Albert for a 3rd. That is what I'm hoping for.

Maybe, but the last official thing I've heard on Bess is that the Browns want him and have discussed a trade with the Dolphins.

You lost me there. I don't believe I've read anywhere that says Albert won't play for the chiefs this year. He signed his franchise tag and will play for the $9+ million this year if he isn't traded.

Albert has to play for them, he signed the tender.

He cannot sit out from mandatory events while he is under contract.

True. However, I believe he has said that he won't play RT. So, that either forces KC to draft Fisher instead of Joeckel (since Fisher can play both sides) or deal with the drama of telling him to play RT anyway.

I think that KC is going to draft Fisher for precisely that reason. If they draft Fisher and keep Albert, they have great tackles on both sides, and if they trade Albert, they still got arguably the best LT in the draft. Fisher is more of a win/win scenario for KC than drafting Joeckel

I don't have any insight but I just have a feeling Andy Reid doesn't want to start the season with Albert.....he's just playing hardball but will eventually give in! hopefully for a 3rd and a 5th.

Lets see if Miami is able to trade down in the first round tonight and pick up another 2nd round pick. Things will develop more after Miami's 1st round pick tonight. Both sides are playing a game of chicken. I don't think KC wants to keep Albert and pay him $9 + Million to play RT. It would be fantastic if Ireland can get them to accept a 3rd round pick.
