A league source tells The Sideline View's Lance Zierlein that Tennessee WR Cordarrelle Patterson could fall out of the first round.
NFL.com's Daniel Jeremiah is hearing the same thing. At 6-foot-2, 216 pounds with 4.42 wheels, Patterson is a freak athlete, but a raw route runner. He's also been nicked for his tendency to "body catch," though he didn't struggle with drops in college. Patterson was reportedly "very unimpressive" in his Combine interviews. Patterson has legitimate question marks, but he could end up one of the steals of the draft if he falls to day two.

What a steal he would be in the 2nd

Yes, he can score on every play.

So as I said before, we should cut everyone except Tannehill, do what we can to get Patterson and just throw him bubble screens all day.

We should average 238.7 points per game.

So was yours. We'll revisit this when Patterson is destroying NFL defenses.

Is he going to be a defensive coordinator?

IF Patterson slips all the way to the second round, I think that we would have to snatch him up. He's certainly raw, but he's absolutely (to me anyway) a first round talent and in today's NFL you can never have too much talent at the WR position. It's a passing league and I will not be upset if we decide to add another talent to our already much-improved squad

Old Tennessee coach Derek Dooley told NFL.com's Gil Brandt that WR Cordarrelle Patterson "can be a head coach's delight."
Dooley's background is as a receivers coach and he now oversees the Cowboys' wideouts. His comment suggests Patterson isn't the headcase detractors have suggested he'll be at the next level. Patterson needs to learn to run routes with more explosion and confidence, but he may be the most talented offensive skill player in the draft. Brandt ranks Patterson as his No. 8 overall prospect.

NFL Films guru Greg Cosell believes Tennessee WR Cordarrelle Patterson has "open field instincts and movement" that cannot be taught, and that there are very few players Patterson's size with his kind of ability.
Patterson checks in at 6-foot-2, 216 pounds. There's been chatter than Patterson's raw route-running ability may knock him out of the first round, but Cosell doesn't expect it to "dramatically affect his draft status." Along with West Virginia's Tavon Austin, Cosell calls Patterson a player who made him say "wow" while watching tape. "Believe me," Cosell wrote. "That does not happen too often."

Kinda sounds like a generational talent to me. He's the only player that different scouts have said "WOW" while watching his tape. Mike Mayock pretty much said the same thing Cosell is saying. No player has gotten praise like that this year, or probably in the past 5 years. He's a freakish playmaker.

Usually a "generational" player is considered the best at their position at an absolute minimum and a top 5 player overall.
A "generational" player that falls to the second round is nothing more than an overhyped common player

he's just so inexperienced and a tad immature, but what God gave him is super rare football ability.
An already good football team will snag him between picks 15 and 25.

I would be content if Miami decided to take him at 12. I don't think we will, but I would be content
