Greg Cararillo, Brandon Fields, & Jake Long get pay raises
Who says the economy is doing poorly? I got a raise this year, but a portion of it is going to pay for the increased cost of health insurance for my family ... and it covers less than it did last year. I think it is always a good thing to have these incentives in the players contracts. Everyone benefits from a carrot on a stick. Armando Salguero wrote: According to NFL Player's Association figures, wide receiver Greg Camarillo got a $150,000 pay increase for 2010 based on incentives he met so his base salary goes from a scheduled $1.15 million to $1.3 million.
Punter Brandon Fields, entering his final contract year, will see his scheduled base rise from $550,000 to $850,000. Fullback Lousaka Polite will see his scheduled $1.12 million base salary jump to $1.27 million.
And the biggest jump will go to Pro Bowl left tackle Jake Long, whose scheduled base salary of $9 million has risen to $9.725 million, based on incentives he met in 2009. Miami Herald

Miami Heraldcan I ask possibly a dumb question?. what kind of general incentives would be placed in an O-linemen's contract?. I ask because I can't think of a whole lot of stats that are recorded for the offensive line.

paydurt wrote: Oh yes of course...the pro bowl duh! always a hefty bonus for that mile stone.. thanks For Big Jake the huge stat is sacks allowed, and for most lineman the issue is being on the field so that's an incentive....but you can also give incentives to lineman based on the running back's stats, because what he does is contingent on the offensive line's performance. sacks allowed, pro bowl, games played/started, running game, staying on weight, etc.

Hmmmm...some interesting stats I sure find it encouraging that our tackles were ranked #2 and #8 it just shows that our O-line is getting real close to where it needs to be... And on another note..how dismal was Orlando Pace?.Ugh..that probably didn't help Cutler's cause much last season!
