I'm watchin the receivers run their 40's
man these kids can fly! Haven't seen one bad time yet. And 2 of them are gigantic....Marcus Davis and Chris Harper.
Tavon and Goodwin are tiny world class sprinters

Right now I'm not sure where Harper will be drafted, but if he is there in Rd. 3 or 4 I'd like Miami to take him, if they choose to not take one early. He is not the fast guy, but he is huge as you said & appears to be hard to defend.

I know his stock is on the rise. This draft is really deep with talent.

I know Godwin wanted to break Chris Johnson 40 record, but I think he will be happy with 4.25. Tavon Austin ran the same time and I really do like him as a player.
Played both WR and RB at West Virginia last year.
Justin Hunter ran sub 4.5, but he lost weight to get under 200 lbs, which worries me. DeAndre Hopkins ran a 4.5 40 and Cobi Hamilton ran 4.47.

I saw Chris play a couple of times, in the blowout loss to Baylor and the bowl game against Oregon. I like Chris a lot and he brings a lot to the table. Big, strong, physical and a willing blocker. Good speed for a man of his size at 4.46 and pretty solid hands.

Re: I'm watchin the receivers run their 40's
lot's of good receivers in this draft, no reason we can't come away with 2 good prospects in this draft. Mayock said the thing that he doesn't like about Hamilton is that he drops too many balls. Something we don't need anymore in Miami.
Justin Hunter - 6'4" running 4.4's . . . Wouldn't be upset if that was our 2nd pick

Mayock just said that DeAndre Hopkins had some of the best tape he has seen from a pass catching standpoint. He has looked good in the drills also.

Not a lot of seperation in terms of speed with these WR so no Ireland has to look at the game tape and see who are the best "playmakers" in this class!

Terrance Williams of Baylor runs a 4.44 at 6'2, 206 lbs. Denard Robinson runs a 4.34 40. Patterson runs a 4.40 40 in his 2nd 40.

I don't know that we have. swerve, your boy Patton ran a 4.46. Kenny Stiles of Oklahoma has run 4.34 and 4.28.
Love Tavon Austin out of West Virginia. To go along with that great speed is very good production on the field with the Mountaineers. Goodwin of Texas is a track guy playing football and his production at Texas is not near that of Tavon. Still like Marquis though.

no I haven't. And I can't understand anyone who says this isn't a strong draft. There are gifted guys being mocked into the 5th round.

it's unreal the amount of 6'3" guys that can run a 4.4 forty. Just amazing.
Patterson is like nothing we've ever seen because he's tall, fast and runs like a runningback. He has moves like Barry Sanders and can break tackles for a long guy.

I also LOVE the deep rout over the shoulder drill...shows the hand eye coordination.
I've been trying to hype him up as a slightly...SLIGHTLY...lesser version of Mike Wallace.

yup. and Goodwin was exposed for being more of a trackster than a receiver. Very underused at Texas.

I'm impressed with Robert Woods too. He's explosive, strong and a great route runner. I'm startin to think this will be remembered as a great wide receiver draft eventually.

Agreed. There are a LOT of good looking wide receivers.

Re: I'm watchin the receivers run their 40's
well at least we know if we miss out on Wallace that there are plenty of studs in the draft. Hell, I'd be happy taking Patterson at 12 and Woods at 56.
Woods is exactly the type of receiver they would take in Day 2. Can run all the routes, solid hands, tough.
I just don't really see him as a playmaker.
By the way swerve, regarding Wheaton. You're right. He's a track star, but he's much better running underneath and beating press than Wallace was coming out (at least in my opinion). But here's that track speed...This is him beating De'Anthony Thomas:
What seperates him from a lot of other recievers in the draft is body control. In other words, he's the polar opposites of Brian Hartline lol.

RB Onterio McCalebb of Auburn just ran a 4.21 unofficially. I think Chris Johnson record may be in trouble.

I don't care what the level of competition is. You can't teach speed.

All this is just more reason why the draft is the way to go. Sign Wallace & if he doesnt get enough touches & we once again are a losing team he will whine like a baby. Sign one of these guys & if we dont win they will just stay more conditioned in the off season & come back with a chip on their shoulder.

I've been saying that we needed to draft this kid from the get go. He was Tannehill's go to guy in college. It would be a great situation for Tannehill to have another solid go to possession receiver in addition to Hartline and Bess.
Although I certainly wouldn't say we could add Swope and be set. We still need to add another receiver, whether it be via the draft (what I would prefer) or through free agency (still good depending on who we add).
I'd love to see a scenario where we're able to land Keenan Allen in the 1st and Ryan Swope in the 4th. That would leave us with two 2nds and two 3rds to beef up the o-line and defensive secondary.

Swope would fit in as a slot receiver in the NFL. Miami already has Bess, so I just don't see this kid being a pick for the fins. Outside wide outs with size & the speed is what Miami in my opinion will target.
