Greg Camarillo: 50 catches, NO drops
Armando Salguero wrote: Greg Camarillo, despite whatever shortcomings he has in his game, is nothing if not dependable. He didn't drop a pass in 2009 in tying for the NFL lead in drop percentage at zero. You cannot get better than zero drop percentage.
Camarillo had 50 catches on the season without a flub.
Pro Football Focus defines a drop as when a receiver gets his hands on a ball, but drops a pass you would reasonably expect to be caught. Miami HeraldProFootballFocus wrote: Greg Camarillo, who was one of three players not to drop any passes. http://www.profootballfocus.com/article ... rc=&id=147

Looking at that list, I hate it we traded Chambers. I know he had drop problems at times, but he also seemed to have a new OC every year. Does anyone remember who we drafted with that 2nd round pick we got for him?

4th down and the game on the line, you throw to Camarillo. He is solid and obviously extremely reliable. Smart guy from Stanford studies film like crazy and compensates for any short comings of speed.

Oh. I'd trade Henne for Chambers, so, Parcells made the best of that trade.

Oh. I'd trade Henne for Chambers, so, Parcells made the best of that trade. Chambers netted Henne. Satele was the result of the Welker deal. Taylor netted Pat White. I can't even remember who we got for dealing Satele, I just know it was a 6th round pick.

Camarillo probably deserves more credit than he gets, but while reliable he isnt explosive and will never be considered a huge threat. I always thought he would make trade bait as he would be perfect for a team that needs a solid possession guy to go with an established number 1.

Told ya'll he had some of the best hands in the league. That's just it too...every single one of those 50 catches were with his hand. Not like Ted Ginn having the ball pop off his chest every catch.

Either way, we probably got the better end of that deal, as Satele is undersized for a Parcells/Sparano O-Line

Re: Greg Camarillo: 50 catches, NO drops
So in essence, we traded Satale and Chambers for Grove, Henne, Gardner and Hartline.
I'd say that looks pretty smart to me.

Iowa:
I mentioned that he studies film like crazy as over the years of reading articles on Camarillo that he works very hard on film study (as I am sure most NFL professionals should) and perhaps more so than a lot of folks do looking at defense coverages etc.
I only mentioned the Stanford remark as obviously you need to be a cerebral type person to get in that university and attain a degree as it is one of the more top college education programs.
Really the overall point I was making is that Camarillo is a smart guy who really studies the game and translates that to being extremely reliable on the field.

Re: Greg Camarillo: 50 catches, NO drops
Camarillo didn't look like much of an ivy leaguer when he tossed that pass out of bounds and was penalized for it...
