Scout's quick thoughts on Dolphins CB Sean Smith
Matt I wrote: Scout's quick thoughts on Dolphins CB Sean Smith
"I had him as my top rated corner last year, believe it or not. I thought he had great footwork for his size. I think when he gets to press receivers off the line, he's alright. He reminds me a bit of Bobby Taylor, the old Eagles' corner.
But when he's in off coverage, it really concerns me because he's not quick enough in off. He needs to get his hands on the receiver.
I'd say this is a big year for him. We got to see if he polishes up a little bit because there is a huge difference between rookie year and second year. There's going to be a big difference in his play. I think he'll get better. But long term, at some point, he's going to have to make a move to free safety. Once he starts losing any athleticism, that's when you have to start to worry a bit.
But I think he's going to be a good to solid corner in the NFL at this stage." http://www.thephinsider.com/2010/3/26/1 ... n-dolphins

The poster meant like 8 to 9 years down the road.
I think Sean is going to be a fine CB for us, and him and Vontae should make an awesome combo.

The one thing I certainly want to see Sean do is tackle better. If he does not do a better job of tackling, teams will begin to target him in the run game.
I do think he is much better in press coverage than when he is backed off, but he will improve that.
