 Mid-Season All-AFC East Team
Quote: As part of our look back on the first half of the season, we’re breaking down every division and looking at the top performances from each position.
Here’s the AFC East, and links to the others:
...
Tight Ends: Rob Gronkowski (NE) and Anthony Fasano (MIA)
Nothing is jumping out in the fullback stakes, so it’s an easy decision to go with two tight ends. Gronkowski has carried on his form from last year, with a lot of his infamous spikes and some fine blocking. You do get fewer spikes from Fasano, but he’s been a real asset for Tannehill.
Wide Receivers: Wes Welker (NE) and Brian Hartline (MIA)
Hartline has slowed down considerably given his early season pace, but he’s still 14th out of all receivers in terms of yards.
...
Center: Mike Pouncey (MIA)
If you make the PFF Mid-Season All-Pro team, you can expect to make this list. Building off a good rookie year, Pouncey has emerged as one of the elite as his position.
Defense
Defensive Ends: Cameron Wake (MIA) and Chandler Jones (NE)
Currently manning positions on our All-Pro Team, you’ll see these two guys starting there was well. In short, they’re both playing pretty darn well.
Defensive Tackle: Randy Starks (MIA) and Kyle Williams (BUF)
Again, two guys who earned themselves honorable mentions as All-Pros to this point in the season. Starks has been superb all year — as he has been pretty much his entire time in Miami.
...
Linebackers: Jerod Mayo (NE), Brandon Spikes (NE) and Kevin Burnett (MIA)
... That’s the controversial choice here as Karlos Dansby had himself a very strong claim for the spot. As it is, Miami fans will have to take solace in the fact our sixth-ranked 4-3 OLB Burnett rounds out the unit.
Cornerbacks: Antonio Cromartie (NYJ) and Sean Smith (MIA)
... while Smith is playing more consistently than ever before. He’s looking like a No. 1 corner.
Safeties: Reshad Jones (MIA) and Jairus Byrd (BUF)
Byrd is one of the few safeties out there who really plays like he can change a game. Jones may be developing into that type of player after a difficult sophomore campaign.
Special Teams
...
Punter: Brandon Fields (MIA)
Returner: Marcus Thigpen (MIA)
Special Teamer: Jimmy Wilson (MIA)

 Re: Mid-Season All-AFC East Team
Sorry to be "that guy", but what's the point of an All-Division Team?

 Re: Mid-Season All-AFC East Team
It's great to get some recognition for our guys, especially since we are used to being the crap on the bottom of someone's cleat, but yes, mid-season all-division????
Having said that, where's Cam Wake's name on this??

Yes, but traditionally our team gets overlooked on things like this. Not only that but how you stack up against the rest of your division tends to dictate how you finish at the end of the year. Does stuff like this mean we've arrived, no. But it's a good sign that the team is playing well in my opinion.
