Defenses are daring Tannehill and receivers to beat them
Dave Hyde wrote: The receiving corps doesn’t have a touchdown threat.
The Dolphins have two touchdowns from their wide receivers in six games (each on the kind of busted covered you rarely see in the NFL). For those seeing Brian Hartline as a possible Jordy Nelson or Davone Bess as a possible Wes Welker, they need to get in the end zone more. There are bigger questions, though. Can Charles Clay come on as a playmaking tight end they’re trying to help him become? Can Jabar Gaffney be a productive third receiver to open up the defenses more? Defenses are walking a safety in to put eight men in the box. The easy thought is they’re daring Tannehill to beat them. If that was the case, it wouldn’t be such a problem considering Tannehill’s development. The bigger challenge is the defenses are daring the receivers to beat them, too. It was a question in August around this team about who could get the ball in the end zone. That hasn't gone away at all. http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/miam ... 0609.story

Simply put, spot on. We have got to get better at the receiver position. I know we've really only played one quality team (Texans), but I feel we can beat any team in this league if we get enough production from our receivers. You get some help there and the defense won't be able to stack the box; this makes Bush a nightmare to shut down then. This offense could be dangerous!

They've been stacking the box all season long, Tannehill has adjusted, now he's winning games. They're daring him to beat them and that is exactly what he has done the past couple of weeks.

We can't salvage the future for a rental receiver. I have a hard time seeing playoffs this year with this offense. Right now they're just playing mistake-free football. And trying to create points with smoke and mirrors. We have a tough 2nd half stretch against Seattle, San Fran., 2 with New England. Even the Jets score more than us.

We're a young team that is still learning. Let's see what we do in the next few weeks coming out of our bye before we rule out our playoff chances.
