DAVIE —
There’s a reason the Dolphins haven’t rushed for 100 yards in three consecutive games, including running for just 19 in Sunday’s 17-14 win over the St. Louis Rams.
Teams are loading up the line of scrimmage with extra defenders and daring rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill to throw. Miami has called 114 passes against 71 rushes in its past three games, and Tannehill has responded by setting personal bests in completion percentage and passer rating in consecutive weeks. He also hasn’t thrown an interception in the last two weeks, resulting in two wins for the Dolphins.
“If we have six (at the line of scrimmage), they have seven. If we have seven, they have eight,” offensive coordinator Mike Sherman said Monday. “What they’re trying to do with Ryan is make him beat you, and he’s done that the last two weeks. He’s … made some unbelievable decisions.”
