 Trade for Welker
Ireland needs to trade for Welker now. Call up Bill, offer one of our thirds. It won't give us that bona fide #1 WR we need, but he instantly makes us better. Eventually teams will get the hint and start doubling them more. They can't do that with Welker, and I think he's the one WR that could step in and develop instant rapport with RT.

 Re: Trade for Welker
doubt your getting a player like welker for a 3rd from a division rival..atleast we didnt realize what we were giving away when we did it well (2nd and a 5th)

The Pats are likely a SuperBowl team. I don't see them geting ride of one of their best assets.

 Re: Trade for Welker
NO.....we already have players who fulfill his role.
If we can get Calvin Johnson, or Larry Fitzgerald, or Andre Johnson...sure....that is the kind of player we need. It isn't going to happen though, but we can dream.
The draft....hopefully we can find that top WR to pair with Tannehill next year.

 Re: Trade for Welker
No way, he's too old and too expensive. We've already got a good slot possession receiver, his name is Davone Bess. We don't need Welker. I'd rather draft some kid in the first round next year.

 Re: Trade for Welker
I realize we have Bess who owns Welker's role in our offense. But I was thinking this might be possible and the advantage of having him line up on the field with Bess and Hartline, would free those two up more, while giving RT one of the most reliable WR's in football. Is it worth a third? For us yes, even if we only get two years out of him. I wouldn't have though this trade scenario realistic a couple of weeks ago, but the offense really needs a WR, and this is possible. NE's ready to move on from him. I'm sure thy rather get something than nothing.

Welker is going to command somewhere around $10M a season on his next deal and that is simply too rich for the Dolphins. We're better off giving Hartline an extension and drafting a stud wideout in next years draft, a big/fast "Z" type guy who can win jump ball battles in the redzone, yet still make big plays downfield. A Julio Jones type receiver. If the Dolphins use their picks right they can probably get a guy like that. No need to pay Welker big time bucks out of desperation. I think we're going to give Gaffney a shot to earn a job as the #3 guy and next year we'll bring in the real deal.

 Re: Trade for Welker
Why would New England trade a weapon when the division is clearly theirs to lose? If the price tag is a 3rd rounder they can keep Welker for the year and get that in a compensation pick.
I think everyone has to accept that Miami is going to draft a WR early or try to grab a short term veteran option.

 Re: Trade for Welker
I know that this thread has to be someone kidding around? Bill Belicheck is NOT going to trade Wes Welker to the Miami Dolphins. Have you seen Welker's stats the past few weeks? NE is getting stronger each week and I highly doubt NE would trade him away.
Past 3 Games for Welker:
8 catches 142 Yards 9 catches 129 Yards 13 Catches 104 Yards

Just what we need, another #2/#3 WR and closer to the end than the start of his career....we have several of those...I hope this never comes true...

I agree, we need to get comfortable with the idea that we're not going to truly address the receiver corps until next years draft. Right now we just picked up Gaffney, I think our staff likes Gaffney and wants to give him a shot. Gaffney is a serviceable stop gap that can take a little pressure off of the other wideouts. He doesn't need to be amazing, just a good #3 guy who doesn't drop the ball.
