Daniel Thomas has head injury ... danger of extended absence
A possible 2 concussions this year. Bad news for a player that sees a lot of contact. Quote: Daniel Thomas in danger of extended absence
Daniel Thomas sustained a head injury Sunday, just one month after his Week 1 concussion.
If Thomas' "head" issue turns into a concussion, he could be looking at an extended absence. Players that suffer two concussions within a short span often struggle to gain clearance. Lamar Miller would back up Reggie Bush if Thomas can't go in Week 6. http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/49329406/ ... ayer_news/

Hate to make light of an injury, especially a concussion, but...
Addition by subtraction.

He's actually a decent change-of-pace back that has a grasp on the blocking assignments. I'm not sure who we have to replace him.

Very good point Dave, and Phins needs to realize this as well. We spoke about this on the radio show last night and I think Daniel is going to miss this game for sure. He could end up missing multiple games even with the bye week coming up after the Rams game. Lamar obviously is the more talented runner, but if he is a liability in the pass game as a blocker, he is going to remain behind Daniel. You can't have a running back in that can handle blitz pickups.

Hate to read this, but never see him remaining healthy. For two years in the league he has been injured a ton. Believe this guys body is not capable to taking what the NFL doles out.

I went to the Bengals game yesterday and got to see him pick up blitz after blitz. So he's definitely gonna be missed in that department.

You can't have a running back in that can handle blitz pickups. He's the best of a bunch of bad pass blockers...He's blown a lot of assignments in pass protection over the past 2 weeks... I don't think he'll be missed there at all. Use Charles Clay or Lane for all I care. This whole "a RB NEEDS to be able to pass block" thing is over rated. You can manufacture ways to keep Miller out of that situation.

Well, Lamar must stink like hell when it comes to pass protection if Thomas is bad, because Miller did not see the field yesterday..
And there are a LOT of coaches that don't think it is an overrated part of a game in regards to running backs being able to pick up blitzes.

Also If this is addition by subtraction I guess our coaches are not smart about the RB situation then? Depends, if he has some nice carries it may seem like he is the better option, however if RT is constantly being pressured because of missed blocks then it nulls it out. Our run game has taken a hit the last 2 weeks for sure regardless.

I'm pretty sure Steve Slaton will get a call if Thomas looks to be out for any length of time..
He's servicable and knows the system

I agree!!.. you can't run an empty backfield all day because that's what your saying, if you dont have someone back there that can block you minds well not have anyone back there at all You need a RB that can block but also has to be a threat to run or your whole offense becomes very one dimensional..
