Miami gets extra 7th round draft pick
Quote: The Cincinnati Bengals were the big winners of the compensatory picks revealed today by ESPN's Adam Schefter.
................
Here is the full list of compensatory picks awarded according to Schefter, with the overall pick next to each:
Round 3
Cincinnati -- 96 Tennessee -- 97 Atlanta -- 98
..................
Round 7
Indianapolis -- 240 Tennessee -- 241 Pittsburgh -- 242 Philadelphia -- 243 Philadelphia -- 244 Seattle -- 245 Indianapolis -- 246 New England -- 247 New England -- 248 Carolina -- 249 New England -- 250 Oakland -- 251 Miami -- 252 Tampa Bay -- 253 St. Louis -- 254 Detroit -- 255 It's only a 7th, but it's something. Cincy getting an extra 3rd and 4th round pick?? Wow....

That's it? They lost Goodman, Hill, Holliday, Wilford, Darilek, and Roth (idk if Roth counts since it was the middle of the season) and only gained Grove, Wilson, Taylor...is that it? If so, I think a 7th isn't very fitting.

I don't think contract has anything to do with it, it's based on what they consider lesser or equal talent...but I don't know how they figure that out.

Well, if there was one rookie free agent they felt they needed to take a look at, this will do it.

If a player is cut, they do not qualify for compensatory picks. So from that list Andre Goodman and Renaldo Hill are the only ones that qualified.

So we acquired 3 players, lost 2 players.....surprised we got any.

Re: Miami gets extra 7th round draft pick
I believe we only signed two players who counted - Joe Berger, Jake Grove. I am not sure exactly how the system works but it has something to do with how much playing time they have during the next season.
Berger started 6 games, Grove started 10 games
Hill started 15 games, Goodman 16 games

And i will add that it does not surprise me that NE gets a bunch of picks again...
Guess they didnt sign any good players... Or at least were smart enough no to start them

Re: Miami gets extra 7th round draft pick
Well NE is very well built. Belicheat knows exactly what to do... that is build through the draft. Every year they have in place a number of players to let go. Those are then replaced through the draft.

If so, I think a 7th isn't very fitting. It isn't about what players a team lost, but what players a team lost due to them going in FA. Traded/released players play no role.
