Armando Salguero, of The Miami Herald, reports the Miami Dolphins have offered a contract to free-agent OG Richie Incognito (Bills), according to a source. The two sides are continuing to talk.

The Miami Herald reports a source says the Miami Dolphins this evening offered a contract to free-agent OG Richie Incognito, but it didn't blow him away, as talks continue.

Well it looks like nobody else wants to touch this guy so does he have much of a choice?

The Dolphins and the player's representatives at this hour are finalizing a deal that was submitted last night. Jeff Darlington of The Miami Herald reports the deal is worth slightly over $1 million. When the final language is written, the deal likely will include $300,000 in incentives to cover the possibility Incognito starts for Miami.

That is bargain money. Good starting guards in the NFL average anywhere from $3-$5 million depending on experience and whether they have hit free agency or not.

Incognito has played three positions along the offensive line in his career -- RG, LG and C. But the Dolphins want him join the competition at both guard spots. Notice I said both guard spots. Yes, Justin Smiley has been something of a lock at left guard since joining the team in 2008, but he'll have to win his job during training camp -- regardless of whether he's the odds on favorite to do so or not.

Richie Incognito agrees to 1-year deal with Dolphins

Okay no "Diva Receivas" but we'll take a guy who will get more notoriety for calling back big plays than anything positive he does in the trenches.

The Miami Dolphins have signed guard Richie Incognito. Incognito is a veteran of six NFL seasons, having spent time with the St. Louis Rams and Buffalo Bills.

The 6-3, 324-pound Incognito has started all 47 games that he has appeared in his career, including nine with the Rams and three with the Bills in 2009. Incognito was awarded to the Buffalo off waivers from St. Louis on December 16, 2009 after spending his first five seasons with the Rams. He originally was selected by St. Louis in the third round (81st overall) of the 2005 NFL Draft. In 2006, Incognito blocked for a Rams offense that had a 4,000-yard passer, 1,500-yard rusher and two 1,000-yard receivers, one of only four offenses in NFL history to accomplish that feat.

Incognito played collegiately at the University of Nebraska where he was a first-team All-Big 12 selection by the Associated Press. The guard was also named to the conference’s second-team by the league’s coaches as a sophomore. Incognito also earned a spot on the Outland Trophy and Lombardi Award Watch Lists and was the first Husker freshman offensive lineman to start in the season opener and was just the third rookie lineman to earn any start in his first year of competition. Born July 5, 1983, Incognito was born in Englewood, NJ and attended Mountain Ridge High in Glendale, AZ, where he earned All-America honors as a senior. He was also named to Prep Star’s 120-man Dream Team.
