love how EVERY Dolphins fan wants to talk trade down, trade down because they are either scared to make a pick at No.8, or are greedy and want more. Yet, the year the Dolphins actually did that, back in 2010, and pulled it off successfully in terms of picks, Bill Parcells and Jeff Ireland get stoned for it.

I find it telling that UM receiver Tommy Streeter has a slightly lower draft grade than Leonard Hankerson the year before. Hankerson had a 5.44 grade, and went in the third round. Streeter has a 5.38 grade according to PFW.

Last year Dolphins tight end Charles Clay had a 5.33 draft grade. This year he'd be the sixth best tight end in the 2012 draft. The only tight ends he'd be ranked behind are Coby Fleener (5.85), Orson Charles (5.75), Dwayne Allen (5.70), Michael Egnew (5.38) and Ladarius Green (5.35). Do you get the point I'm trying to make yet?

There are only four tailbacks in the 2012 draft with a higher draft grade than Miami's Daniel Thomas, who had a 5.60 grade according to PFW. Trent Richardson, Davis Wilson, Doug Martin and Lamar Miller (who has a 5.70) are the only tailbacks in this draft class with a better grade.

Omar Kelly
Also In Miami Dolphins
Last year Dolphins receiver Clyde Gates had a 5.44 draft grade according to Pro Football Weekly. This year Gates would be the 12th best receiver in the 2012 draft. He'd be rated ahead of Ryan Boyles, Jarius Wright, Tommy Streeter, Nick Toon, Devon Wylie, Joe adams, Patrick Edwards, Chris Givens, Marv Jones, Rishard Matthews, Jeff Fuller, TY Hilton, DeVier Posey, Dwight Jones, Juron Criner, Travis Benjamin, Junior Hemingway, Greg Childs, Danny Coale. You get the point I'm making?

What is my point? It would be nice is Dolphins fans took stock of what they do have, and allowed young players - who had their growth stalled by a lockout - to blossom before they concluded they were busts, or don't have it. I expect a significant amount of growth from players like Mike Pouncey, Jared Odrick, Clyde Gates, Daniel Thomas, Charles Clay, Jimmy Wilson, Nolan Carroll, Reshad Jones and Lydon Murtha in 2012.

Dolphins defensive lineman Jared Odrick has a 6.0 draft grade when he was coming out in 2010. If he were in this draft he'd be the fourth best defensive tackle prospect, behind Fletcher Cox (6.50), Dontari Poe (6.30) and Michael Brockers (6.15). And keep in mind defensive tackle is this draft's second deepest position, behind receiver.

Never mind that Jared Odrick produced six sacks in his first full NFL season, and that Koa Misi, who drafted with the second round pick acquired from San Diego, has been a solid NFL player. Or that Tim Dobbins was a solid throw in they once thought might unseat Channing Crowder. Earl Thomas is a solid NFL starter. But let us not act like he's a difference making NFL safety like Ed Reed. Don't play the results.

Last two a bit out of sequence I think.

This article is pretty stupid. These numbers don't really mean anything. All of those players that he mentioned are not busts yet...but its obvious that we could have drafted better.

Earl Thomas is a pro bowler. Misi and Odrick are not. Who cares if he's not Ed Reed? No one is Ed Reed. The only safety on par with him is Troy. That doesn't mean we couldn't have had a great player instead of an average role player.
