Prisco- "I like the move OK, but the money was way too high"
Pete Prisco wrote: I like the move OK, but the money was way too high
Karlos Dansby is a good player. He is not worth what the Miami Dolphins paid him. The Cardinals wanted him back, but only at the right price. They didn't see him as a difference maker. The Dolphins obviously do. Paying him a contract that includes $22 million in guaranteed money to play inside is a lot of money. Good player. But the position isn't a value spot -- and they paid him that way. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/story/1302 ... ks-off/rss

This is what happens when you use free agency. You overpay.
You do it to get your team rebuilt a little bit faster because building strictly through the draft can take forever unless you have Hershel Walker.

The team was so mismanaged prior to Parcells getting here that Parcells has to use a monetary hammer in free agency to get us competitive. A big thanks goes to owner Stephen Ross for buying into what Parcells is doing.

The organization is making money either way...most of it might-as-well be distributed amongst the players.

Re: Prisco- "I like the move OK, but the money was way too high"
I don't agree with Prisco that inside linebacker isn't a critical position. Just ask our secondary how they felt after Crowder recorded a pathetic 60-something tackles last season. It left our secondary exposed all year long and we paid for it. Sure we dropped a ridiculous amount of money on Dansby, that's what free agency is, a bidding war.
However, the move makes sense because Dansby has a lot of miles left and because he is excited about playing for Parcells, which will hopefully guard against the "Albert Haynseworth" syndrome - where a player's production drops dramatically after getting a huge contract.
Look at this way, the Chicago Bears just dropped all sorts of money on three free agents over the age of 30, now that is a desperation move.
