 Ferguson suspended
http://espn.go.com/blog/afceastNT now is top priority.... I am thinking the draft is our best option but this means we need to go round one or round two at worst for a NT

 Re: Ferguson suspended
I seriously doubt that this regime is going to worry about a problem like this now. How about signing Jammal Williams to be the veteran NT and then drafting an understudy?

 Re: Ferguson suspended
WTF!! I can not believe that Ferg got popped for this crap. I mean this late in your career. Oh well I guess pick 12 is going to be a NT. Jammal Williams would be nice for two reasons, it puts a solid NT in there now and he can help develop a young player like Cody, or Williams. But he is battling multiple injuries. MAN I WISH THE PATTIES DIDNT TAG BIG VINCE.

 Re: Ferguson suspended
Well, I do think that we bring him back, and this might actually be a good thing.
1) We are now forced to take care of NT right now, and not delay it anymore. And 2) When we do get Ferguson back, he will be in great shape, and ready to give it his all for the final stretch...

 Re: Ferguson suspended
I agree Phins Rock. Miami could look to bring a Jamal Williams in, but he is also coming off a major injury and is 34 years old.
Drafting a NT just stepped up a notch and I already have Dan Williams at my pick at #12.

 Re: Ferguson suspended
Don't the teams get some warning before the suspensions are made public?
I think they do which makes me wonder why the Dolphins haven't been more aggressive on this front.

 Re: Ferguson suspended
Honestly, this doesn't guarantee anything other than what we already expected...the NT position will be addressed. The veteran will not be Ferguson. Maybe its Jamal Williams, maybe they deal a few of those 6th round picks for another veteran, maybe Dan Williams is the pick (which I wouldnt mind at all).
If I had to guess right now, I'd say Miami positions itself to grab Cam Thomas with its 2nd pick (even if they had to move up).

We no longer have that option which now makes it the biggest need on the team The 3-4 defense is only as effective as the NT. Miami's defense sputtered once Ferguson was injured. Soliai got man handled in the last quarter of the 2009 season. Ferguson is an UFA, it wasn't guaranteed he was returning. Make no mistake about it. NT is the most pressing need right now.

If we don't bring him back, how is he gonna help us in the final stretch? I am curious whether or not we resign ferg now. He is old and now we will only get the second half of the season out of the guy (which may be a good thing). Does this team really want to pay and waste a roster spot for 8 games for an aging player?

 Re: Ferguson suspended
Well it is not like Fergeson was going to come back from that injury in the first few weeks of the season anyway. This is a good reason for Miami to hang onto him. They don't have to pay him for those 8 weeks. It would be wise if they hung onto him and brought him back for the stretch run next year. There was always a need at NT entering the draft due to his injury and age. I think the need did escalate just a little but as Rich points about above, there isn't a whole lot out there. Any draft prospect would be a year or two from any impact. If there's a servicable FA then they need to head that direction...if not, 4-3?
