Re: Kiper talks about henne, and possible draft picks
Quote: "I've thought about Miami and that quarterback position with Chad Henne, but I think it's unfair to kick him to the curb," Kiper said. "I was not a huge Henne guy like other people were. I thought he was wobbly inconsistent at Michigan and he is wobbly inconsistent in the NFL with Miami. That's the frustrating part. You see him great one week or in a quarter or quarter-and-a-half and then you see him revert back to an inconsistent quarterback that leaves you scratching your head with some throws that you say, 'How could you miss that receiver? How did you make that decision? How did you make that throw?' He's never been great mobility-wise but he's a big strong kid. He's a hard worker. I like Henne from that standpoint. I didn't love him coming out like some others did but I thought he'd be a serviceable starting quarterback. To kick him to the curb now is premature. He's still a young quarterback." Kiper is actually telling the truth. He said this about Henne after Miami picked him: Quote: I'm not sold on Henne. He has accuracy issues and a long delivery and he isn't mobile. I do like his toughness and he does have some of those intangibles you look for in a quarterback.

Yeah, good analysis, but this is all things we know about Henne. It isnt anything new to report, it is just coming from vampire hairdo Kiper.

lol yes we do know all this about henne and have heard it over and over again, but Kiper also chimes in on some of our drafting options, which i think is interesting. I wouldnt mind taking Ingram in the first, but only if we grab a QB in the offseason VIA Orton, VY, Kolb etc. I also think it would be interesting to take Kapernick (cant spell sorry) from nevada if he is available in the middle to late rounds.

Re: Kiper talks about henne, and possible draft picks
He was a mixed bag at Michigan and a mixed bag now. Nothing surprising to me. So you're left with trying to build around a few of the good things he does and hope he doesn't get exploited otherwise. Obviously the previous offense wasn't fully equipped to do that, but then again I don't want to pin it all on everything else about the offense all the time. I would prefer a QB who can put the offense on his shoulders at times.

He was inconsistent then, he's inconsistent now, so what will he be in the near future??? Kiper does a good job of pointing out the obvious but what he doesn't do is give you any substance in terms of what he projects from Henne in the immediate future.

Ricky has had the best receivers Iowa's ever had, and one of the best defenses...yet two years ago he still managed to ALMOST throw away every game by throwing a pick 6 and then some to the other team. Sure, his ratio of picks to TD's improved this year...and everyone raves about his accuracy. But let me tell you something, this guy can't throw it over 25 yards and he's about as inconsistent as they come. One play you're like holy hell how'd he make that throw and the very next you're screaming wondering how in the world he missed such a wide open receiver. On top of that, he can't throw the ball over 25 yards...did I mention he struggles throwing the ball over 25 yards?

They're not going to kick Henne to the curb, he is still at the very least going to be our backup quarterback for a long time. He'll compete for the starting job this year, whether he gets it or not I have no idea.

He'll try to sign with a team where he can compete for a starting job.
