Mort just said on ESPN that Bill Cowher has the Giants, Dolphins and Houston on his wish list and that Miami is number one on it. Also said Sparano is on the hot seat.

I think the new owner will have less patience with his head coaches than Huizenga did. If we were to get rid of Sparano, which I hope doesn't happen, Bill Cowher would be my choice. He's a proven quality head coach who is just as tough as as Sparano. He runs a tight ship and would continue to build upon what the same philosophy that Parcells has begun with the Dolphins.

Bill Cowher and Dave Wannstedt look too much alike sans Dave's Porn Stash. However, do think the Soprano's deserve another season.

Honestly I would bring back Sparano as well. Mort said the reason Sparano is on the hot seat is because of the record at home & he feels that might be a reason for the lack of attendance but honestly the Fins dont sell out at home when they are a legitimate contendor as well.

I highly doubt that Sparano is "on the hot seat". That sounds, again, like guys trying to create news.

Not until it's playoff time or when they go on a long win streak (a la end of 05) do Phins fans start to show up. Miami has some of the worst fans anywhere, for every sport.

Agreed , but I think the home playoff game 2 seasons ago vs. the Ravens was sold out when the TV station bought the remaining tickets but before that , the last time we had a home playoff game vs. the Ravens as well (we lost that one as well) but it also was not sold out & the TV station said screw you to the fans & we actually had a home playoff game blacked out locally.

Oh no,you're gonna fire up the crew that tells you it's impossible because a super bowl coach never won after leaving the booth......even though losing SB coaches have done it....Somehow thats different :hithead:

Turn the game on guys, Sporano should be on the hot seat. Henne is a disaster and that idiot keeps sending him out to throw int's. I was thrilled when Shannon got cannned and Golden took over the Canes and I would be thrilled to have a REAL NFL coach take over this team and make us relevant again. Bring on Bill!

Interesting paragraph written on the situation. Its from ESPN Insider so not sure everyone can get the whole article but here is the paragraph:

"As for the Dolphins, prior reports have indicated that Cowher wants to go to a team that has an established, talented QB. There are a lot of nice things in Miami, but not one of those."

Any QB that Cowher (or anyone coaching the team next year) has will be viewed as a reclamation or developmental project. Even if a McNabb or Palmer came to the team there are huge question marks. If Henne is still the guy or they draft someone with the hopes of them starting right away there is no certainty that it won't be a rocky road.

If true, then this helps provide support for what I've been saying. He wants to come back for the money. He doesn't want to have to work hard. He knows an established, talented QB is difficult to find & makes his job much easier.

The guy wants to cash in, not work.

This means he wants Houston or maybe Carolina with Luck being the No. 1 pick.

I think Cowher may be using Miami in the same way that Gruden used the Canes, just to drive up his value. Think about it, Ross has already shown that he's all about being flashy and he likes the big name people, so Miami would most likely offer Cowher a high contract. He can then take that somewhere with a proven QB and get that team to match the contract that Ross wrote.

Houston is the only team I can think of (maybe Denver depending on your evaluation of Orton) with a proven QB that might be looking for a new head coach.

Unless a McNabb or Palmer is available and Cowher demands they be signed.

Any coach would want an established QB, has nothing to do with the money.

Sure, but coaches who wanted to coach it would not matter. He wants it to be easy.

BTW, it didn't matter when Pitts hired him. He had Neil O'Donnell. The difference he was hungry & wanted to prove himself. Now he doesn't feel the need to prove himself. So its the money & wants it to be easy.

Basically he is trying to be Phil Jackson of the NFL. Doesn't want to put in the time to build a team. He wants a winning team handed to him.

I am sorry I do not share the same optimism about Cowher. Most of the coaches that when a Super Bowl with one team don't win another with their second team.

Jimmy Johnson
Mike Holmgren
Bill Parcells
Mike Ditka
George Siefert

Sporano is not the problem. He is a darn good coach. But we need an offensive coordinator bad! We need to draft a QB and put Henne on notice that it is going to be a competition. Tell him and the new guy to fight it out for the job and let the best man win.

I agree. Sparano has the fire and the attitude to motivate his team. I think part of the problem is his respect for Henning. Parcells hand picked this staff and Henning has a long history in the NFL, I think Sparano wants to show him the respect of being allowed to run his offense. Sparano has the power to over ride play calls, but when you have 40 seconds to get the call in and snap the ball that doesn't leave much time at all to make changes.

And why isn't David Lee getting any criticism on the development of Henne? The only mention I've heard of David Lee is him being the possible replacement for Henning.

IMO Henning needs to go, Henne needs some competition, and Jeff Ireland gets this year to draft by himself without Parcells to prove his decision making.

Bill Cowher should keep his mouth shut about positions that aren't even open.

They do?

Either way, Im game. Cowher will transform this team into a fundamental first, protect the ball running attack with a good def....

Oh wait.....

Ah well, at least we can all get a new warm fuzzy feeling this off season and get our expectation high...

Dan Pompei chimes in:

*The door is expecting to be revolving soon in Carolina. Everyone knows John Fox is out after the season. Don’t be surprised if he goes south to Miami if the Dolphins make a change. The connection? Fox is tight with former Chiefs president Carl Peterson, who could be running the Dolphins soon.

Quote:
November 17, 2010|By Sarah Talalay & Omar Kelly, SUN SENTINEL

NEW YORK — Miami Dolphins owner Steve Ross brushed off any questions relating to his team's front office Tuesday, but he was emphatic that former Kansas City Chiefs President and General Manager Carl Peterson does not — and will not — have a role with the team.

"Carl has no role with the football team," said Ross, who has a business relationship with Peterson for FanVision, a handheld device that shows replays, different camera angles and statistics from NFL games.

:war:

LOL

Fire a coach and GM that are unproven and hire a Coach and GM that are proven loosers?

Stephen Ross did not get to his position in life for making dumb decisions... If anything the guy is more likely to make a wise calculated gamble on an unproven coach or go for a trusted vet like Cowher..

Honestly tho, I dont see Sparano or Ireland going anywhere... As long as the first order of business is making changes at the Offensive coaching department...
