Post Phins still Mathematically alive
I know this is crazy talk, but wierder things have happended (See NYJ from last year) Using ESPN's Playoff Machine (http://espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs/machine) and setting the results to Best Win % and then changing the outcomes of a few games in Miami's favor, they can still get the #6 seed. See below:

Week14
IND over TEN
PIT over CIN
JAX over OAK
CHI over NE
MIA over NYJ
KC over SD
BAL over HOU

Week 15
SD over SF
JAX over IND
KC over STL
MIA over BUF
NO over BAL
PIT over NYJ

Week 16
CHI over NYJ
MIA over DET
BAL over CLE
KC over TEN
JAX over WAS
IND over OAK
SD over CIN

Week 17
PIT over CLE
IND over TEN
KC over OAK
MIA over NE
BUF over NYJ
BAL over CIN
JAX over HOU
SD over DEN

#1 - PIT (13-3)
#2 - NE (12-4)

#3 - KC (12-4) vs #6 - MIA (10-6)
#4 - JAX (11-5) vs. #5 BAL (11-5)

I would take this outcome and take my chances on a favorable matchup against the Chiefs. and then a rematch with the Steelers.

I can dream, can't I???

If they dont make it, then lets hope they at least finish at a respectable 8-8 (wins over BUF & DET and loses to NYJ & NE)

:jests:

I would rather not make the playoffs, than make it and get embarrassed. With the product that we put on the field, we don't deserve to be there any more than any of the teams from the NFC West.

I agree that I would not want to see the Phins get embarrassed in the playoffs, and I am realistically hoping for 8-8 which whould be an improvement from last season's 7-9. I would hate to see 2 straight seasons with fewer wins than the previous year.

I agree totally. I said this on another thread two games ago and got ripped for not being a good fan.

exactly.

plus, yes are still somewhat in it with the numbers game, but man do I hate trying to rely on other teams to help us backdoor ourselves into a playoff spot. And then we get in and get hammered .

This is insane.

Would there be a more embarrassing game in NFL history than if the currently managed Dolphins were in a PlayOff game?

I'd rather invite a Jets fan to my christmas dinner party

Why would you guys hope for 8-8? I mean if you don't make the playoffs, does it really matter what your record was? I don't get that line of reasoning. I'd rather have the better draft pick. That being said, I don't take that to the extreme; I would never hope for 1-15 again. But at this point in time, we lose one more we might as well lose the rest. Just sayin....

I'm pretty sure I heard a jets fan say this last year at the exact same point in the year, minus the invite a jets fan over, then all of a sudden they back their way into the playoffs and found themselves in the championship game. Gave the team alot of confidence going into this year.
