Browns 13, Dolphins 10

The Good

Cameron Wake. He's been good all year.

The defense holding Peyton Hillis to 57 yards rushing and the Browns to 13 points. You cannot ask more from a defense than holding the Browns offense to 252 total yards and 2 of 14 on third downs.

The Bad

Chad Henne had a terrible performance, probably his worse as a professional. He threw three picks and had trouble moving the offense despite help from the running game. This is exactly the type of game Henne didn't need to have. He is simply too inconsistent.

Dan Henning again got cute with the playcalling at the wrong time. We are a POWER running time. Do not try to pass it on 3rd and short. Try playaction on 2nd and short instead. It makes more sense there.

The Ugly

Miami Dolphins fans who say things like "I wish Dan Henning would drop dead" or "Henne is an a-hole". It is understandable to be frustrated at this loss and at the questionable playcalling and decision-making being displayed. But to act like classless animals, personally attacking a player or wishing a coach would drop dead, is what Jets fans do.

I'm ashamed to be a part of the same fanbase as people who behave this way.

Great as usual!

Our defense has been stout, too bad our offense has been the opposite.

Just so you don't think every Miami fan is awful:

Pretty nice read, unless of course you are one of the ugly crowd.

Nice find there Jammer... I enjoyed that article and when put into that sort of perspective would have to agree. Are we really willing to bet another season on Henne if he doesn't show improvement???

Or is it time to invest in a 1st round QB?

What does Henne have to do to qualify as ugly???? He had a QB rating of just over 37 last week....if that isn't ugly, then I am not sure what is. :boo:

I think he should get another season to compete but I agree that nothing should be handed to him. He has shown enough glimpses that if consistency settles in he's going to be very good for a long time. If the best player on the board in round 1 this year is a QB and Miami pulls the trigger I would not be disappointed. I want them to do the smart thing. But just dumping Henne isn't helping anyone other than the team that scoops him up.

Agree 100%.

It is time to do due dilligence, look at other QBs and bring them in to compete. But to get rid of Henne outright makes no sense.

I have questioned him for weeks now, but getting rid of him now would be dumb.

If Miami has already concluded they are moving on from Henne their best hope is that he plays well over the next 4 games and brings them some trade value before the draft. ARI, SF, MIN are just a few teams I can think of that might welcome him to compete for a starting job.

As I said before, the only realistic option the regime is to bring in some competition and hope Henne pulls a Brees.

Agreed. I've been a Henne critic but it would be dumb just to out right cut him. He is the starter until someone better TAKES the job.

Keep it classy Rich. I won't bother calling you any names. Not worth the effort, because you know more than anyone else in the world, right? :)

Come on guys... do we really need to do this in every thread you guys are in?

It's getting old.

I am very torn on this season and what the future of the team is going to be. There is a lot of questions in a lot of places. Who am I though, next year we could burst the bubble and be a playoff team... I'm just a Dolphin homer that gets pissed when we lose, jumps up and down when we win. It's going to be interesting to see how it all plays out though.

I started a thread after the Browns game that basically explored the issue of who was out there or would be available in the draft. I think at this point in time, as Rich said, due diligence is in order. Im not ready to give up on Henne quite yet, but I do think we need to be looking for a replacement. Best case scenario, we run into the same situation the Chargers had with Rivers and Brees. I think having some healthy competition regardless would be good for Henne's development. What I find ironic is that some of the same people bashing Henne's performance and saying he is done for are also saying that Sanchez is better than Henne. Sanchez had a equally disappointing night against the Pats. Henne was the savior last week against Oakland, but now he is dog meat. I don't get that, other than chalking it up to people riding the emotion wave. Yes, Henne is very inconsistent at this point, but he still has the tools to excel if he can put consistency into his game.

but Sanchez has had some pretty outstanding performances this year.
He had a span of 4 or 5 games where he threw like 9 TD's and 0 interceptions.
He has shown way more consistency. You can forgive a game like he had the other night, when he has also shown stretches of excellent play.
I thought that Henne could be the better of the two young QB's, but Sanchez is proving me wrong.

While Henne certainly does not have chumps for wide receivers, he doesn't have near the amount of talent to throw the ball to that Sanchez has. One through four, Sanchez definitely has more weapons to throw to. There is also the fact, and I brought this up preseason, that the Jets play to Sanchez's strengths and don't ask him to do too much. They have a good OC and they have a well balanced offense. All of those things mean a GREAT deal to any quarterback, especially a young and developing one. You plug Henne into that Jets team, and I have little or no doubt that he would be performing as well or better than Sanchez.

you could be right, but there are some plays that sanchez makes that I don't think Henne is capable of making.
His touchdown strikes against the Colts in the playoffs last year wowed me.
And I hate giving sanchez credit. I wanted him to fail in New York.
But he has that escapability and can stare down a blitzing defender and just deliver a sweet strike for a touchdown. That's when you see his greatness.
He could become an excellent quarterback.
