I can respect LUCID, INTELLIGENT differing opinions. What I cannot respect are the constant, "henne sucks" threads. They are not well thought out and very irritating day after day. Instead of saying "Henne sucks" etc. how about come up with an alternate plan?

I see evidence that you are insulting the intelligence of anyone who disagrees with you. Not everyone is saying Henne sucks.

OK, class is in session. I am looking at the top 5 WRs in the NFL in yardage.

Brandon Lloyd
Roddy White
Reggie Wayne
Andre Johnson
T.O.

What do they have in common??? They are FAST. They all have straight line speed. They run past the defense. We don't have a guy like that. We have possession WRs. Without somebody to stretch the field, the D can just squat on the routes. We don't scare anybody. Why we refuse to acknowledge this year after year is a mystery.

Reggie Wayne is not known for his speed. Neither is Brandon Lloyd.

They are both 4.5+ guys.

neither is Terrell Owens.
These are all good receivers but not exactly a 4 by 4 olympic relay team

Didn't Andre Johnson run like 4.7 or something?

Fast WRs would be guys like:

Randy Moss (use to be)
Michael Jenkins
Tedd Ginn Jr
DeSean Jackson
etc...

The best WRs run the best routes, have the best hands, tip top conditioning and have the smarts. Jerry Rice was not a speed demon, but he could run top speed forever and catch a cold in the desert.

No AJ did not run that slow. His 40 time coming out of college was around 4.45. He ran track at Miami.

Michael Jenkins might be the one you are thinking of. He came out running a 4.6.

Correct, the best WR run great routes.

Post Re: Henne has had nothing for WRs
I remember so many folks last year saying that our receiving corps was just fine ... :)

This year, I actually agree that Miami started the season with a pretty darn good unit. Marshall is a great one....well, when he wants to be. Bess has really stepped up his game and Hartline is a more than adequate #2. In fact, I consider him to be our only true breakaway threat on offense. Fasano is playing decently. Nope, he isn't Antonio Gates, but those kind of TE's are an exception to the rule and they aren't often found in the later rounds...where the Dolphins typically begin to look for offensive talent in the draft. Henne simply hasn't made the plays. He throws awful interceptions week in and week out. He is inconsistent and seems to have major issues with touch and accuracy. He doesn't seem to be much of an inspirational leader out there. He will show flashes of brilliance, but in the end...your team still finishes with more INT's than TD's, has a record of around .500, and ranks near the bottom in scoring.

I don't believe we have better receivers than the Colts, and the Pats run a scheme that doesn't need amazing receivers. They won Superbowls with Troy Brown as their #1 receiver!!!

Here's the top 5 receivers for each of those teams this year, including TE's, RB's... etc.
(I know you said we have better receivers, and while I disagree with that as far as the Colts go... I may have to agree with the Steelers and Pats... however I thought it'd be interesting to check out the top 5 for each team anyways *smile*)

Miami
Davone Bess -- 61 catches, 667 yards, 3 tds
Brandon Marshall -- 58 catches, 693 yards, 1 td
Brian Hartline -- 43 catches, 615 yards, 1 td
Anthony Fasano -- 32 catches, 434 yards, 4 tds
Ronnie Brown -- 23 catches, 166 yards

New England
Wes Welker -- 72 catches, 672 yards, 7 tds
Aaron Hernandez -- 39 catches, 513 yards, 4 tds
Deion Branch -- 36 catches, 497 yards, 4 tds
Danny Woodhead -- 28 catches, 334 yards, 1 td
Rob Gronkowski -- 26 catches, 322 yards, 6 tds

Indianapolis
Reggie Wayne -- 90 catches, 1107 yards, 5 tds
Austin Collie -- 50 catches, 562 yards, 6 tds
Pierre Garcon -- 46 catches, 534 yards, 2 tds
Jacob Tamme -- 42 catches, 416 yards, 3 tds
Dallas Clark -- 37 catches, 347 yards, 3 tds
(Note - Collie and Garcon both missed time due to injury and Clark is on IR)

Pittsburgh
Mike Wallace -- 41 catches, 868 yards, 8 tds
Hines Ward -- 41 catches, 523 yards, 4 tds
Heath Miller -- 33 catches, 384 yards, 1 td
Mewelde Moore -- 24 catches, 194 yards
Rashard Mendenhall -- 19 catches, 116 yards
(Only 2 real receiving threats, but a dominant defense and top tier run game helps them tremendously)

The thing that sticks out to me the most with these stats is the TOUCHDOWNS. You can rack up all the catches and yards you want, but if you're not scoring then it's all for nothing. Our guys needs to learn to start finding the endzone... who exactly is to blame for that... well I'm sure we could argue that topic forever.

The reason our guys don't find the end zone is two-fold. The unit as a whole lacks breakaway speed (time and again, Dolphins receivers have been run down from behind, including Marshall)...and the QB misses on key throws. Henne has really not been able to click with Hartline when Hartline gets free deep down field. However, Hartline missed some catches as well...especially early in the season.
