Post Little sanity is in order..
Ok, first of all the loss yesterday hurts...no way around that.

But lets be realistic here, we have made some huge improvements here....we still have a ways to go. Does anyone remember that last years defense was the worst in our history ? This has changed to the strength of the team in one year!!..Solai has really developed this year and we have no glaring weaknesses anywhere on D !!!!! This is a top 5 unit next year for sure!!!

After the coaching change, out ST have been good...so this off season will be all about helping the O...I think Henne gets one more year to sink or swim..and yes he has been inconsistent these last 2 years...hey, how was Brees his first two years as a starter ? The point being that some QB,s just take longer to develop then others...this offseason and draft we really need to focus on interior O line ...then rb and te upgrades......to me that,s it....so while the 6-6 record is mehh..that is what you will see with a young team.....INCONSISTENCY IS THE ONLY THING A YOUNG TEAM CONSTANTLY DOES WELL !!! To expect otherwise is not being realistic, so while it is frustrating as a fan, I think we are right where logic would tell us we should be....now if we are like this next year....ok then wholesale changes should be made...but not after this year..

I agree 100%. Point is, AT LEAST 1 of our 5 losses to winning teams will be playing in the conference championship. 5 of our losses were against teams that will make the playoffs. Cleveland is no slouch either, if they werent in the AFC North, they would be division champs in either western division. Point is, we are a GOOD team. We are not great, and we are playoff fringe talent. If the AFC wasnt so stacked in the East and North, we would have a chance, but otherwise, I think we are better than the Colts this year. We might be able to beat the Texans for the first time this season, The Jags are not what the record shows. We beat Ten, We beat Oak, We beat Cincy, We probably could beat the Chiefs and the Broncos. There are only really 6 teams better than us. So yea..... get ready for the Jets implode next season due to a new cap. The Ravens, Pats, and Steelers will all be contenders but the Chargers are getting sick of Turner, and Manning is starting to show his resume isnt so pearlly white. We will be in the hunt in 2011, and I think next year will be the year. Lets get to .500 or better, beat the Jets and Pats for pride, and build this offseason. We need OLmen, and a young back, afterwards, we are set

The defense was respectable this week...but let's not pretend all the problems have been fixed there. Miami still has no clue how to cover a tight end. The aging Ben Watson simply made the team look stupid. He was literally the only offensive weapon the Browns had and the team couldn't do anything to stop it. Finally, after like 10 completions, Carroll realized that they were going to throw to him again. He stepped in front of Watson and dropped a pick 6. :hithead: :hithead: :hithead: :hithead: DOH! Also, Cameron Wake is a beast, but it sure would be nice to find another player who can rush the passer. Once teams double on him or simply hold him, the QB gets all day to throw. Also, if we must blitz...I prefer to see us take the more direct route to the QB...our corners and safeties coming off the edge never seem to get there in time.

Great post! Last week after Henne dismantled the Raiders, I said it was a great performance. The haters asked who Oakland has beat. Well, they pounded San Diego yesterday. LOL! Haters aren't smart.

Post Re: Little sanity is in order..
the reality is that in todays nfl you are not gonna hold a team to 150 yards of total offense!!! That seems like what half the posters here will only accept as a good defense....we played great against the bears, titans, raiders and browns recently...good against the vikes, pack, pats, bills, and cinci....ok against the steelers and ravens and poor against the jets...sorry to all the cliff jumpers.. this is much better then ok....I know alot of people here honestly seem like they wish we were a terrible team...but we are not!!!.. we are young and have made tremendous strides on D this year...to say otherwise is flat out wrong!!!...Henne is the bring question mark going forward, but he will have next year with an improved line and ABSOLUTELY NO EXCUSES NOT TO FLOURISH NEXT YEAR!!...oh..HENNING MUST GO AS WELL !!!

While you were pretending that Henne was the 2nd coming of Manning vs. the Raiders.....You missed something

Quote:
2nd and 9 at OAK 11 C.Henne pass short middle intended for D.Bess INTERCEPTED by R.McClain [M.Shaughnessy] at OAK 1. R.McClain to OAK 11 for 10 yards (J.Berger).

On 2nd down horrible Henne threw a pick on the Raiders 1 yard line on 2nd down ......

Carpenter had to kick 4(6 attempts) more fg's because Henne couldn't make plays.......Carpenter already has a career high for fg att. w/32 after 12 games

I agree but we definitely need a new offensive coordinator. I still think this team is really close to doing something special but Dan Henning is not taking us to the promised land that much I can be certain of. I still might be tempted to draft a QB in the first round if Ryan Mallet is available.

The thing about QBs is that you will run through a lot of busts but when you find that gem then your franchise can be set at that position for 15 years.

But honestly would you take Kitna, Garrard, or Orton over either Manning brother right now????

For some, the game never slows down. Sorry...just the way it is. How many solid college QB's come to the NFL and simply suck. A ton of them. If Henne made a few brilliant plays inbetween the boneheaded ones, you'd have to cut him some slack and wait for him to reduce the mistakes. He's not doing that. He just doesn't make enough big plays to justify waiting.

I'd take Garrard and Orton over Eli. Peyton has no OL, running game or defense right now.

WHY DO PHIN FANS HOLD OUR QB'S TO ONE STANDARD AND THE REST OF THE NFL'S TO ANOTHER?...Junkie you said you were take orton or Gerrard over Eli ? Then you ask what brilliant plays has Henne made to counter the bonehead ones......how about Eli made several brilliant plays to win a SB what have Orton and Gerrard ever done???? yet you would take them over Eli....glad you aren't making our personal decisions...and I believe Henne led us to several comeback wins in his career....I AM NOT SOLD ON HENNE PERSONALLY, BUT DO THINK HE WILL AND SHOULD GET A 3RD YEAR TO PROVE HIMSELF....and if he blows he will have a HC as well.....but still think we need to go OL in the draft in round one !!

If this team tries another season with Henne, the result will be the whole coaching staff out on their butts after another disappointing season. Imagine if you will, what the team would look like with rookie Sam Bradford at QB? Can Miami find that kind of rookie for next season? Keep Thigpen and Henne (shudder) and bring in a rookie to push them in preseason.

people forget that Henne had several 4th quarter comebacks in his first year playing...kinda how mccoy and braddford are looking ..but your second year playing DC have plenty of tape and can game plan for you...so a drop off your second year is normal...FLACCO AND SANCHEZ ARE AS HIT AND MISS THIS YEAR AS HENNE...only people here act as if Henne is playing like culpepper!!

You're telling me Henne has not made some throws that have made you say wow? I understand they have not all been TD throws, but outside of the CLE game he has had no trouble moving the ball between the 20s with some great intermediate throws.

That said, he has made enough mistakes to justify brining in competition.
