I think Henne will still be our starter next year, but we need to look for a replacement like the Chargers did. I still hold out a slim margin of hope for the kid, but that is dwindling each week.
So with that, what is the list of QBs that will 'likely' be available this coming year? I thinking we are going to be in the early to mid teens of the first round. Remember we also do not have a 2nd rounder this year.

There is nobody. Luck will go #1, and Newton short after.

Quite honestly, I'm not a fan of either Luck or Newton anyway.

I thought Christian Ponder out of FSU would develop in his senior year, but he really disappointed. Jake Locker out of Washington is considered to be anywhere from a top 5 pick to out of the first round. Talented as it gets, but as inconsistent as it gets too.

Mallet, He's like the SEC version of Flacco.

Yea I have a buddy who is a huge Locker fan. I've never been that impressed with him though. I heard all last year that if he had come out he would have been a top 10 pick, and that he was projected first overall this year. However after this past season, I think people have cooled on him a bit. I just don't think he plays very smart and he really shows a tendency to sail his passes.

Try JaMarcus Russell.

Just because a guy can throw it 70 yards doesn't mean he's good. He's got awful accuracy, decision making, footwork, slow release....very over-rated, IMO.

Vince Young might be available for semi cheap. Then again I don't know if he is the answer for us.

66.5% completion percentage and 9.9 ypa. In the SEC, sounds more like Flacco to me

Russell had better stats at LSU across the board than Mallett had this past season.

No knock. His release is slow, but that's it.

He'll be a top 5 pick.

Slow release and limited experience.

That too. Although I don't know if that will lower his stock. Sanchez had the same amount of experience and was picked number 4.

Though Sanchez was in the same system for his college career despite only playing one season.

2007. It currently has one starter. Troy Smith.

2011- Andrew Luck, Jake Locker, Ryan Mallet, Nick Foles, Blaine Gabbert, Andy Dalton, Greg McElroy, Terrelle Pryor.

I think this is one of the better quarterback classes we've seen in the last decade.

Pryor will not enter the draft.

Locker is a joke, as is Mallet. Foles is a 3rd or 4th round pick at best. McElroy probably won't declare, Dalton has game but when he plays somebody that's actually good does not show up. Gabbert is interesting as he was a huge thing as Chase Daniel's back-up from what I remember, but was underwhelming this season.

You forgot Newton, but I have concerns about him as well. Luck is the only guy.

Pat Devlin will sneak into the first round. I'm calling that right now. Nobody is talking about him, but he'll be this year's Joe Flacco. He's an interesting guy, but, I don't know if he's really anything more than average.

Are we really predicting who will get drafted and when already? At this point in 2007 Henne and Brohm were supposed to be first rounders, no one knew much about Flacco, and PR had the Matt Ryan Please Come to Miami shrine in full effect.

I haven't really followed QB prospects since Miami drafted Henne because I thought, and to an extent still do think they have their guy. Therefore I'm not going to pretend I know enough about any of these guys. I heard great things about Locker and Luck going into this season, thats about it. It wouldn't hurt to have a contingency plan if Henne really flames out over the remainder of this year and in the offseason.

For the record, I was on the Brian Brohm to Miami bandwagon at this point in 2007, hoping Miami would trade up to get him in the mid first round. Shows how much I know.

I would take Ryan Mallet if he is available. Though whoever lines up under center needs a new coordinator sending in the plays to him.

Clearly I didn't pray hard enough.

Luck reminds me of Ryan in a lot of ways. He's got a lot more athleticism than Ryan, and maybe a little more arm strength. But the accuracy, leadership, touch and gutsy-ness is all the same.

Think it is one of the better QB drafts as well. There is a lot of value in the mid 1st as well as the 2nd (meaning we might find 1st rd talent in the 2nd, like Brees) Hopefully more juniors will declare as well.

MaK- I hope we have more juniors too, but I'm not sure if this whole CBA thing will prevent more from coming out. I hope we get this resovled to have more options in the Draft.

Foles draft stock is gaining alot of momentum.
I wouldn't mind grabbing Ponder in the 3rd

I think the thing to remember here is that it probably shouldn't matter who we take or who we get. The dolphins offensive philosophy, personnel decisions, and coaching style has to change. Putting a talented guy in here with the poor coaching staff will only attribute to an already degrading team.

We need a new coaching staff before we can develop potential talent.

Agreed...I think the staff is doing a poor job overall. Some changes need to be made there.

First off I do not see Philly trading him, but if the price is right they might. It would cost Miami's 1st ( at least )

Now my question. Isn't that kinda like getting AJ Feeley for Miami's 2nd in '04?. Feeley actually had more games under his belt with that trade & Miami fans blasted it & could not wait for Feeley to fail.

Getting Kolb do not change anything. You get a 4 Yr vet who has yet been able to show he can start.

Walterfootball.com list every draft eligible player. Who is on the list is who can declare or is a senior.

Actually he has looked pretty darn good for Philly. They traded McNabb and went with Kolb as starter until he got hurt and was replaced with Vick. It wasn't a knock on Kolb, that's just how great Vick has been.

When did he look good? Those 2 games last year? It sure wasn't in the preseason, because majority of people were yelling for Reid to start Vick.

AJ Feeley looked good in his 6 games as a starter for Philly, back in '02 also.
