Post Nolan Carroll gaining confidence as kick returner
Was anyone else impressed with Carroll in the Bears game? I thought he did a very nice job. Of course, he will always be remembered as the player we picked with the pick we received from the 49ers for Ted Ginn and family.

Nolan Carroll seems to be getting more comfortable in his kick returner role.

Carroll had the longest return of his brief career on the opening kickoff Thursday night, taking it at the 7, cutting left, getting outside the containment and going 46 yards to the Bears’ 46. The Dolphin offense sputtered there, however, and it proved to be one of the few times Miami ran plays in Chicago territory.

Carroll has excellent speed and is more and more showing the vision and explosive burst needed for long returns. He is also showing good judgment, opting to take a touchback twice Thursday when kicks were too deep to run out. He no Ted Ginn Jr. yet, but he is proving a much more viable option than Pat Cobbs.

He looked great on defense in training camp, I'm excited to watch him develop.

For those of us who pined for Ted Ginn at some point this year ....

Nolan Carroll was the player the Dolphins selected with that fifth-rounder they got from the 49ers for Ginn. I’d say Carroll has shown excellent promise as a kick returner and in special teams coverage. He also is in line to become the primary nickel corner at some point in the next year or two, depending on Benny Sapp. Oh, and have you noticed Ginn’s limited production in San Fran this year? In Sunday’s 21-0 loss to the Bucs, he had one catch (on four targets) for seven yards, plus three kick returns with a long of 30 yards. For the season he has six catches for 75 yards. His longest punt return (on 13 tries) is 20 yards. He does have a 61-yard kickoff return among his 19 attempts, but still no scores. So please save the “Bring Back Teddy” campaign. There are problems here, but his absence isn’t among them.

We should bring back Ted Ginn...he's done so well with the 49ers.
