Post Cortland Finnegan: I knew what route Marshall was running
That is inexcusable Henning....Completely ridiculous.

Quote:
Right after the Miami Dolphins broke the huddle and got into their offensive formation Cortland Finnegan would look Brandon Marshall right in the eye and tell him the exact route he was running.

Finnegan, Tennessee’s starting cornerback, admitted he wasn’t right all the time, but he guessed he was on the mark about 80 percent of the Dolphins’ offensive snaps.

“You shouldn’t be able to do that, but I’ve watched every single game Miami’s played this year and the formation doesn’t lie. Formations tell a lot,” Finnegan said. “He didn’t like that. Much respect.

First Ed Reed saying how easy it was to read Henne .... and now this ......

The entire offense needs to be retooled.

Knowing the play and stopping it are two different things. Marshall is the kind of player that if the ball is delivered in the right spot, more often than not, he should come down with the completion. He is not averaging over 100 catches a year for nothing....

Yes, execution is critical. If you execute, then it doesnt matter if you know whats coming. 3rd and 1, and your in a jumbo set, I would assume QB keeper, FB Dive, or HB over the pile. Either way, but if the 80% part is true, that just confirms the fact that we are FAR too predictable and its not a good thing. If we dont have an element of surprise, or unpredictablity, we need perfect execute. Behind the eight ball before the play is snapped? Yes, Henning, get the F out of town..... And why does he look like a cast member from the Munsters?

Of course it is critical for the DB to not know what route the WR is running. Especially a top 10 DB like Finnegan.

Remember last year it was opposing offenses that were laughing at how predictable our defense was, and then Pasqualoni was fired.

I guess when you've been coordinating the same offense for half a decade teams will figure it out.

Glad he had it all figured out...

Good thing he did not relay that to the rest of the team or we may have lost...

Sorry Cortland, but regardless of your play our team still lost...

Don't comment on the poor play calling or decision making, the homers here will take issue with it. Hey, we won so everything must be hunkey dorey. Just another example of why henning needs to go.

Well it's good he knew what route he was running...he was still one on one with Marshall and Henne overthrew it.
