Dolphins LT Jake Long is expected to try to play through a labrum tear in his shoulder. The Miami Herald's Armando Salguero writes that Long will need surgery at some point that will require 3-6 weeks of healing and another 3-6 weeks of rehab, but he will attempt to gut it out for the final seven games with the aid of a harness. Multiple reports have indicated how tough Long is, but it's still no guarantee he'll be able to do this.
ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports Jake Long suffered labrum damage on his shoulder and that Long is "probably going to miss" Thursday's Week 11 game. Beat writer Omar Kelly previously predicted Long would play, but this is the first we've heard of the labrum damage. Mort suggested Long might try to play but that he wasn't optimistic about his chances. With Long out, RT Vernon Carey could slide over to the left side to square off against Julius Peppers, and a variety of journeymen would be options to fill in Carey's spot on the right side. Long did not participate in the team's Monday night practice.
