The Good
Brandon Marshall had 10 catches for 127 yards. He is on pace for 118 catches and 1494 yards.
Cameron Wake put up 3 sacks, bringing his season total to 6. He is on pace for 19 sacks.
The offensive line did an excellent job of protecting Chad Henne. They also did an effective job of run blocking up the middle. Sealing the edge on outside runs could use some improvement.
Chad Henne did what he had to do to lead his team to a win. He had one interception and a few throws that were off, but he found Marshall early and often to establish the passing game.
Dan Carpenter had a great day, hitting field goals of 41, 53 and 44 yards. The latter was the game winner in overtime.
The Bad
Bobby Carpenter needs to be released. Another missed assignment on a punt. He allowed an opposing player to get a hand on a punt for the third consecutive game.
Vontae Davis allowed an 86-yard bomb to Greg Jenning that went for a touchdown. Davis also gave up some other catches. Not the type of day we're used to seeing from Davis.
The Ugly
Special teams showed improvement, but still had some miscues. As noted above, Bobby Carpenter continues to miss assignments. Lydon Murtha also got called for holding on a Dan Carpenter field goal. Last week, he gave up a block on a 59 yard field goal attempt that was returned for a touchdown. Clearly, coaching wasn't the only problem for special teams.
While the defense did an admirable job of containing the Packers offense, they looked pretty lost on the Aaron Rodgers touchdown run. When you have an empty backfield and the field spread out, the QB sneak is coming. Everyone knows that.
A tough win for the Dolphins. They are 3-0 on the road and did what they had to do to pull it out.
