This is what I would expect my agent to say to the press if asked about me. Since the Dolphins are above the cap entering 2023, it will be interesting to see what they end up doing to get under the cap in order to add a new player or two.

Hal Habib (Palm Beach Post) wrote:
Agent Drew Rosenhaus said Wednesday that he expects edge rusher Emmanuel Ogbah to return to the Dolphins next season and he’s working on deals for linebacker Elandon Roberts and defensive lineman Zach Sieler that would keep them in Miami.

Ogbah has a guaranteed contract for 2023 that was agreed to last year. Roberts would become a free agent March 15 if no agreement is reached.

The Sieler situation bears watching because he would become a free agent after next season and is due for a bump over the $3.2 million he will earn in 2023.

“We really have made that a priority in our discussions with the Dolphins,” Rosenhaus said on The Joe Rose Show on WQAM-560AM. “It doesn’t take a cap expert to see how valuable Zach is. He really has outplayed his contract."

I would think Christian Wilkins is the priority......he's an UFA after '23. He'll be looking at an average of something over $20M/yr.

I think you need Sieler working in tandem with Wilkins for real success.

The thing people don't understand is that extending Wilkins actually should free up cap space to be able to resign other players that you want... like Seiler. Win win, if they structure it right. Which is something that Miami under Grier has really been good at.

It may save space for '23, but IF Tua has a monster year, then he's looking at a massive contract.

Unfortunately football has become a sport about who can manage their cap the best. If a team develops a player like Sieler, then they have to pay him or lose him or another player at a different position. Instead of getting cap credit for developing a UDFA into a player worth keeping.

Showing my age, but I prefer when teams stayed together and you had a team to hate. No longer there, because in a few weeks during the beginning of Mar. the NFL will be in the news with overpaid players going to new teams that they will never reach what is expected. Outside the draft, the move overblown event.

I'd like to see a Larry Bird/NBA type rule where a team could pay a player big money, but they only count the average pay per position against the cap.
