Steelers signed S Minkah Fitzpatrick to a four-year contract extension worth over $18.4 million per year.

The deal makes Fitzpatrick the highest-paid safety in NFL history, fitting for a player who Steelers DC Teryl Austin described as a "unicorn" earlier this month. Fitzpatrick has been attending Steelers minicamp but had not been participating in team drills as he worked on an extension. He's now ready to go for his age-26 campaign. Fitzpatrick was originally drafted No. 11 overall by the Dolphins and then was traded to the Steelers in 2019 for a first-round pick. He's been a key piece for the Steelers since and has been absolutely stellar in run defense. The Steelers now have him under contract through 2026, his age-30 season.
