Heatherly may be good competition if the Dolphins are looking for a long term punter and a cheap option. I chopped up the article a bit, but it actually says that FIU HC Butch Davis actually saw Jr College punter Heatherly punting when he was checking out the other team's punter. He was so impressed that he offered Heatherly a scholarship. This is the time for "feel good stories", but it's actually a good article.

If you were slotting him in by weight, he would have fallen between Terron Armstead and Rob Hunt. They’re offensive linemen. He’s not. He’s a punter.https://www.palmbeachpost.com/story/spo ... 730624002/
His name is Tommy Heatherly, an undrafted free agent trying to land a job on the Dolphins with an impressive set of statistics kicking a ball but even better statistics kicking bad habits.
Morstead is 36. Heatherly turns 24 during training camp. Morstead is due to make $1 million compared to $705,000 for Heatherly, but since $550,000 of Morstead’s deal is guaranteed, the cap savings are virtually awash.
So what if it’s simply performance? Morstead — who sent Heatherly a congratulatory text when he signed — averaged 47.2 yards per punt for the Jets and Falcons last season. Heatherly averaged 46.4 for FIU and has been a semifinalist for the Ray Guy Award, presented to the nation’s top punter.
