While higher is better, its not where you pick, its who you pick. This does put Miami in a position to trade down into Rd. 2 for a team wanting to get back into Rd. 1 and pick up more draft capital ( Typically a next yrs 1st ).

….another bonehead move by Grier.

Maybe we will use this low 1st round draft pick on someone like... let's see... maybe Iggbybhgiby from somewhere like Auburn.

Watch them select a D lineman again and pick O Linemen starting about round 4. Also, Grier will surely find another bellwether running back in round 7 or so….

Imagine thinking a player who set the rookie receiving record is not worth a few draft spots.

Well….there is just staying pat at 3 and taking Chase. Or, if you wanted those extra first rounders for Grier to squander for guys like Igby and Jackson, then pick at 12 and take Micah Parsons. Waddle is a fine player, but I think having Chase or Parsons would have been pretty darn good.

Or pick, Waddle, Phillips & Holland, Wilkens, Hunt orDavis Funny on how you ignore them, but it does not fit your narrative, so honesty is not going to be forthcoming with you..

Parson would have been nice, but who the heck would Miami had thrown the ball to had they drafted Parsons? Mack Hollins as Wr. 1? Are you that freaking serious? The 2022 draft is defensive heavy anyway.

Chase would have been fine, and him or Pitts were who I wanted, but Chase in Miami is not getting deep with 2 sec for the QB to throw. Even though Pitts was elected to the PB his stats do not show it.

All this fuss about Waddle and Chase and the difference between picking at 3 or 6 ...

Cooper Kupp ran a 4.66 (later improved to a 4.62), which was one of the slowest combine times for a WR. This is probably why, despite breaking all kinds of records at Eastern Washington, he didn't get picked until the third round (in the 2017 draft).

So, regardless of whether we pick 29th or 31st with that SF pick, there is going to be a Pro Bowler available.

There is no "cap" on how much a team can spend on its scouting department. What is the typical budget for a team? We should spend tens of millions of dollars to find those Cooper Kupps out there.

What? With that logic, then let us trade all of our picks for as many 6th and 7th rounders as we can…..heck, the GOAT was a 6th rounder. ….

Again, its who you pick, not where. I guarantee a player picked in the top 10 will be a bust, while some player picked later will be a HoFer or at worst a perennial PBer, but lets continue to whine, because whiners whine.

I meant the post more as a comment on how great Cupp is than a commentary on draft strategy. Having said that, there are lots of Pro Bowl players who get picked on Days 1 and 2 of the draft. Your extrapolation out to Rounds 6 and 7 is silly, where Pro Bowlers are very rare. You are just trying to stir things up.
