This shocks me, but it shouldn't. His coaching and personnel decisions cost the Dolphins games this year. He went through too many coaches, especially on the offensive side of the ball. Plus, he micromanaged too much. I would think that Flores and Grier are tied at the hip.

I'd love to have a quiet offseason for a change. That would mean a successful season going in the right direction.

I would love to get more information on this. I am not sure this is the right move. Flores can obviously coach as he got a 1-7 team to go on 8-1. But he also coached a 1-7 team. I think there was opportunity here for him to grow and improve. But we have heard a lot of rumors about his inability to work with people which is why there has been a ton of turnover at the assistance coaching positions.

I wonder if he was not on board with the Deshaun Watson trade and therefore needs to be taken out of the way? Would love to obviously get more info.

Per Matt Cannata, there are some rumblings that the Dolphins were considering bringing in a football czar and that Flores may not have been OK with the arrangement.

Nothing really shocks me anymore. His ability to not field a competent offense and hire quality offensive coaches is probably the reason he's gone. Hopefully they let Grier go as well. Just hoping our owner has a plan.

Ian Rapoport saying Brian Flores was a huge reason Watson wanted to be in Miami.

If they hire a football czar, he should have authority to make a decision on Grier. Don't saddle a new person with old people. Let them own the whole thing.

Amen to this. Flores' offensive coaches were subpar at best and he micromanaged too much.

Now let's see if Ross can close the deal on Harbaugh.

I liked Flores but the hires at OC and OL last season was my last straw with him. You can't hire those guys when it's third time change play callers. Made no sense and had a high probability of failure. They decided he didn't get a 4th chance to get it right.

This is frustrating, first time we have back to back winning seasons since Early 2000 and we fire the coach. I understand he went 1-7, but you know how difficult it is as a coach to take a team that demoralized and win 7 straight games. That takes leadership of the highest level to bring a team back from that kind of hole. We will regret letting him go a few years from now.

I also think this has more to do with a Watson move.

For some, your wish has been granted.

For others, it's the same ol' same ol' crap from this franchise.

The first coach to have back-to-back winning seasons since Ricky and Wanny.

The only thing I can hope for is that... and I may be wrong I don't know. If they do hire a "Czar", that they get rid of Grier as well. He shoudlnt' survive if Flores doesn't. For me, this also spells the end for Tua as well. He's gone too.

So let's hope the new regime... UGH... I hate even saying that again... let's hope they have their heads on, bring in an actual offensive coordinator... an actual DEFENSIVE coordinator, because guess what... that defensive brain that had them playing so well, is GONE!

And the carousel continues.

I'm kinda shocked, I expected the Zimmer and Nagy firings. Not this though.

The decision to fire Flores can be summed up with one word: Relationships. His relationship with Grier and Tua had deteriorated to a pretty bad place. Along with constant staff changes, owner Steve Ross no longer saw Flores as a healthy fit in Miami.

While I realize many are assuming Flores’ departure is tied to Harbaugh’s potential availability, I can assure you that is not the case. The Dolphins are not targeting Jim Harbaugh, per sources. The decision to fire Flores is entirely independent.

For some reason, I don't believe this. Neither do a lot of people I know.

All good info posted.

Just want to add per the Watson stuff, it actually sounds more like he will not be coming to Miami based on what I am reading. There are still mentions of Kirk Cousins though.

Remember when I said Allbright called the Tua pick an ownership decision? Makes me wonder if the owner wants to see it through with a coach who believes in his QB. If that is true I have to eat crow on calling Ross Captain Star Bleeper in the Watson situation (but he still is for other reasons).

Bringing in a czar is what I have advocated for since things began falling apart early in the season. Get a guy who can run an organization and get out of the way. No more committees or patch work. If you want to relegate Grier to overseeing the cafeteria because he is a nice guy then fine. They did the same with Tannenbaum for a stretch.

I like that Flores got his guys to play hard for him, but he was not leading Miami beyond mediocrity unless he got serious humbling.

What I read on Twitter is that Grier is being retained in his capacity and will help hire a new Coach. So... yeah....

Given that info, who would you target?

Would the Fins have won more games in the begging of the season if the Watson rumors never got started? I believe that was a huge distraction. Hopefully he stays in Houston or becomes someone else's problem.

I have always agreed with Rich's opinion to get a guy who failed elsewhere and is hungry to prove he learned from his mistakes.

No more rookie head coaches nor a guy who won previously and decides to come out of retirement.

Allbright keeps mentioning Dan Quinn as an option for Denver. Says he is respected by players and works well with people. Someone like that is appealing to me.

He was on a "short list" we should be targeting on a Tweet I scrolled through earlier.

That's my choice at the moment, but didn't he have issues with his front office? Someone refresh my memory on that. I have an Eagles fan next door to me. I'll have to pick his brain.

The only thing for you is that you've always wanted a HC who never has won it before. I think Pederson has a chip on his shoulders to want to succeed and prove the Eagles wrong.

Brian Daboll might be a good choice to fix the offense.

So, what is the over under number for good players the new coach will let go because they don't fit his scheme but will be picked up and shine for other teams?

Well, the new head coach isn't saddled with Tua. He will make that decision himself. So, if anyone thinks Tua is safe, he isn't

This reeks of Art Modell firing Belichick in 1996 from his first head coaching job. Flores may not be Belichick, but neither was Belichick when the firing happened. I would expect Ross to hire a "Ted Marchibroda" and fail miserably at that as well...the pattern continues for Ross and Grier.

Doug Pederson would be a really good fit in Miami because I feel he has history with the team. He also has been able to win with lesser talent. I think he could come in fired up to win with what he has and would probably have a better chance of getting assistants to follow him. I truly think that whoever the Dolphins bring in, has to have a clear cut plan on who will be on they’re staff and be some proven winning history in they’re respective positions.

Another good choice for HC would be Jim Caldwell.

Just be prepared for the team to be gutted. New coach, new schemes, will want his players, new everything. I see a fire sale coming this off-season.

The more things change the more they stay the same.

Personal opinion. Flores was not on board with whatever clueless Ross wanted to do
