I'm not sure how many casual fan pay attention to analytical stats. However, they are interesting and do provide evidence of how reality and perception can be so different.

Just about every Miami fan believes some QB are connecting on a bunch of throws down the field and Tua only throws short passes.

How many would believe Tua has a longer ( CAY/Com - Completed Air Yards per completion ) Basically how far the ball travels past the LoS before being caught. This stat take the YAC out of play.

Mahomes - 4.9
M. Jones - 5.3
A. Rodgers - 5.3
Prescott - 5.6
Brady - 5.6
Herbert - 5.6
Cousins - 5.7
THill - 5.7
Tua - 5.8

Now some will go, but they go down the field and have more completed pass. So what are the ( CAY/Att - Completed Air Yards per pass attempt )

Mahomes - 3.2
Rodgers - 3.6
Herbert - 3.7
Brady - 3.8
M. Jones - 3.8
Prescott - 3.9
Cousin - 3.9
Tua - 3.9

Basically I think this speaks to Miami's O and their Wr inability to gain separation.

If one were to look at Miami players. The player with the highest avg YAC is Miles Gaskin at No. 70 in the NFL at 5.4 avg. YAC. One would have to fall all the way down to No. 112 to find the first Miami Wr. Jaylen Waddle at avg of 3.9 YAC.

Gesicki - No. 148 @ 3.0
Parker - No. 150 @ 3.0

Yeah but he doesn't pass the "eye test" so the science is settled.

Using facts with people throwing tantrums, regrettably works less often than you would hope.

Not that that applies to anyone on this board as we are all well adjusted, fair minded and rational individuals.

It’s like a place where all women are strong, all men are good looking and all children are above average.

Have to admit. I posted this with the thought it would lead to a discussion, but apparently the anti-Tua crowd does not like statistics. Why is now the question?

The game is super finesse now, everybody tosses it up short. Maybe the question was his ability to progress his reads aggressively downfield being 5’11 behind a raging bull of a self destructive OL.

I think the receiving core would be a better barometer of downfield air average than QB in some cases, not all. Mahommes can mix it up anywhere on the field but the guys he has catching passes can tear it up just a few yards past the LOS & still clean up the entire field offensively.

Wait forhis next interception. It's more about being right than giving Tua the time to develop.

Exactly what I was thinking. He’s a bum because he doesn’t pass the eye test. #facts

That play under duress today to hit Waddle in stride…..big boy play. It was fun to watch. He is getting it done behind a bad O line and with a diminshed receiving group. Imagine if we had Parker playing at a high level? Problem is, Parker is always hurt…. What a waste of talent.

Still….as great a game as this was, durability issues and other bad plays have cost this team. 1-7 was a hole no one digs out from. If they can beat the Titans with Henry and then beat Bellicheat….then at least the future will brighten up again. Anything less than a playoff appearance this year has to be considered a failure….

Tua can't win big games:

8-13 for 158 yards and a 104 rating in one half in win vs Ravens

Now do that for a full game

27-33 for 273 yards 2TD & 1 INT in win vs Jets

Now do that against a good D w/ no INTS

26-31 for 230 yards 1 TD & 0INT in win vs Panthers

Do it blindfolded

Be the best qb ever to play for the Phins and make sure you do it this year and every other year for 30 more years then maybe.

There should be no question that he can play in this league. Now, he needs to stay healthy, because what is on the bench will stop our winning streak.
