Ricky Williams fumbles twice in Week 3

Miami Dolphins RB Ricky Williams fumbled the football two times during the team's Week 3 loss to the New York Jets, reports The Associated Press. The Dolphins were able to recover one of the fumbles and the other was overturned by a replay review during the game. Williams was held to 28 yards rushing on seven carries during the game.

Quote:
Dolphins coach Tony Sparano admits that he is concerned with Ricky Williams' recent fumbling issues. Williams lost a fumble in Week 2, and in Week 3 he fumbled once again (though he managed to recover it) and also had another potential fumble overturned by replay. Ronnie Brown received most of the work after Williams' ball security issues Sunday, and he'll continue to do so if Ricky can't correct the problem.

Wait, when he got tackled, his elbow hit the ground, then his knee hit the ground, then his other elbow hit the ground jarring the ball loose, and someone is really going to say he fumbled twice?

He fumbled once, and he recovered it himself. That was the hurry up and snap it play after Bess was clearly out of bounds on that 1st down catch.

While I agree its not good, one was clearly not a fumble, hence the "overturned" ruling. And the other was in a hurry up situation with Ricky just rushing into a pile of other players..

No need to get crazy yet, one thing I am pretty confident about with Ricky is he will go above and beyond to protect the ball after a bad week

Ball keeps coming out man. That's scary. I don't care how down he "looks", it's all about what the refs call. Need to hold the ball through the tackle.

Hasn't Williams always had a fumbling issue dating back to his New Orleans days?

Look Williams goes through stretches where he's more fumble prone. He's in one now. Personally I'd like to see Cobbs in his role next week.

That's crazy talk.

That's almost as bad as playing Jesse Friggin' Chatman over RB in 07. I know that RW seems to have ball security issues right now, but the answer is to play more of RB, not take a significant downgrade by playing Cobbs.

Yep. Part of the reason he was traded...that, and health issues. He's, for the most part, overcome those health issues with losing weight but his fumbling has always been there. Is it a problem? Sure, but if he makes more great plays than fumbles he should still continue to get carries.

He was fumbling late last year when we leaned on him for lots of carries....

As for Cobbs....no thanks. He looks very slow out there. It is painful to watch him returning kicks. He is way too slow these days....looks like he is running in mud or something.
